The Giants’ mistake was not in trading Odell Beckham Jr. but in signing him to the extension in the first place. “Making it Right”

On Monday the New York Giants shocked the football world by trading Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) to the Cleveland Browns for first- and third-round picks along with Jabrill Peppers. Just a couple of weeks ago Giants general manager Dave Gettleman told reporters at the NFL Combine when asked about the rumors surrounding his team looking to trade Beckham. His response was simple, “We didn’t sign Odell to trade him. That’s all I need to say about that.”

However, 13 days later they traded him because, I believe, in their minds reality kicked in. Back in August of 2018 they signed OBJ to a five year extension worth $95 million with $65 million guaranteed. A few days after they signed him I wrote a crazy Hot Joint entitled “Emotional” where I specifically stated that the Giants were out of their minds for paying him that type of bread.   Why? Because the dun is way too emotional to trust.

Not even four games into the regular season I wrote another Hot Joint entitled “Selfishness” because ole boy jumped out of the birthday cake butt naked foamin’ at the mouth. On that Sunday morning ESPN aired an interview that Josina Anderson did with he and Lil’ Wayne earlier in the week where ole boy threw his team under the bus and especially his quarterback. Y’all remember that foolishness with him sitting there with Lil’ Wayne.

Then in December when the Giants beat the Bears in overtime 30-27. Ole boy fronted on his team on the kick off just before regulation ended? Let me refresh your memory. With a minute left to play OBJ literally fronted on his team with the Giants up 27-20 as the Bears attempted an onside kick. New York put the hands team out on the field.

Because OBJ is one of the best wide receivers in the game today he was on the field as part of the hands team. The ball came right to him and he made absolutely no effort to recover it or even to attempt to go after it. Now the Giants eventually won the game but the media dove all over him about it including me in the Hot Joint entitled “Selfishness Part II” just so you don’t think that I’m just making stuff up.

So let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Just because ole boy’s got crazy talent doesn’t mean that it makes since to have him on your team if he’s an emotional wasteland that’s liable of doing anything on the field or sideline at any moment on you. He’s already shown us that he’s not a team player and that he’ll turn on a boy and the field goal net in a heartbeat. Again, I ask the question why did it make sense to offer him the 5 year extension back in August in the first place? They weren’t going to win with him. Therefore, it makes no sense.

Let me put it where the goats can get it. The Giants woke up on Monday morning and said “Ya’ll know what playa? OBJ is about to be somebody else’s problem and not ours. If Cleveland wants this emotional mess then they can have him.” That’s not a direct quote. That’s just me telling you what I think happened.

I’ve got no problem with them trading that dun. He may decide to act like he’s got some sense with his homeboy Jarvis Landry in Cleveland because they came up together and played at LSU together too. He may respond to Baker MayField, who knows, but what I do know is that he was always going to be a train wreck in New York. Why? Because they’ve already allowed him to be disruptive. Have you ever seen a kid that is accustomed to acting a fool at home? When he’s in his element there’s nothing you can do with him but if you take him out of that environment he may do better. All New York wanted to do was correct the mistake of paying the dun in the first place. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

3) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it
