The Knicks not getting the No.1 pick is best for New York fans. “Save the heartache”

CHICAGO — Everybody and their baby’s momma had already written the script for the dull New York Knicks for this summer without taking into account that the draft lottery is just what it is, a lottery, a crap shoot. They had the Knicks getting the No.1 overall pick which would have surely sent Zion Williamson to the biggest media market in the world. They also had both KD and Kyrie joining him to create this mega team that would make New York relevant again in the NBA.

Well playas…they face planted on the No.1 overall pick as the New Orleans Pelicans got lucky enough to draw the first pick followed by Memphis and then New York. It’s par for the course for Knicks fans to be disappointed but it’s probably great for them because the worst owner in the NBA would have found a way to screw it up anyway.

Now Zion can start his career without having to deal with a terrible franchise at least from an ownership perspective. Good for him.

The question now is will New Orleans be able to convince Anthony Davis to stay and play with this young phenom? They’ve got a new Vice President of Basketball Operations in David Griffin, who won a championship in Cleveland with LeBron and Co., so at least he knows what winning looks like.

However, Anthony Davis probably already has both feet out of the door at this point and some young kid isn’t going to change his mind. At least the Pelicans have more leverage today than they had yesterday. It should be fun to watch this foolishness play out. Stop me when I start lyin’!
