Indiana gets embarrassed in front of all the old heads and Bobby Knight! Why? “Safe Guys”

BLOOMINGTON — Well…the Indiana Hoosiers are moving in the same direction they’ve been moving in for the past 18 or so years. BACKWARDS!!! On one of the biggest days in program history when they finally talked ole Bobby Knight off of his high horse as he let bygones be bygones and showed up at Assembly Hall. They completely wet the bed in front of him.

The stage was set with in-state rival Purdue in town and Bobby Knight blushing from the welcome back after being gone 20 years. They got the brakes, doors, transmission and back seats blown off of them 74-62.

It’s the same ole foolishness. They’ve got crazy talent but they play with absolutely no heart. It’s ridiculous!!! Purdue comes in with 10 losses and drags them up and down the floor in front of every former hooper to ever walk the Bloomington campus. How embarrassing is that?

Knight finally decides to bury the hatchet, they get all of the old heads to show up and the current team doesn’t even get off of the freakin’ bus to play the darn game.

Don’t blame Archie Miller. Blame the culture down there that says we only want safe guys. Well playas…safe guys don’t win big games. Safe guys don’t make the tournament and safe guys don’t enhance the legacy of Indiana basketball.

What’s a safe guy you ask? It’s a guy that has the talent to play but is never going to be a problem at all to anyone. Not even the freakin’ guy he’s playing against. He’s a guy that plays with absolutely no heart and no since of urgency. If you took his wallet he wouldn’t fight you to get it back.

If the Hoosiers don’t make the NCAA Tournament this year it would be their fourth straight year not getting in. That’s terrible. It’s hard to watch and even more difficult to stomach being an IU grad Class of 90.

Getting a new coach won’t change things until they stop recruiting safe guys. If you want some ball players that play with a sense of urgency that will buck up to a boy when it gets thick you’ve got to start going to the inner cities. It’s cool to have some suburban kids but you’ve got a have a few cats that have been through some rough times that know how to fight to survive. Those are the kids that can motivate everyone else when it gets tough. When you don’t have any of that you sink when boyz bring the thunder.

There are plenty of hoopers with the grades and attitude in the hood that can survive on campus and they’ll bring some fire and grit to Bloomington. However, IU has to stop running away from them. Otherwise, they’re going to keep getting blasted by teams that have them.

You can’t buy heart at Wal-mart nor can you teach it. Stop me when I start lyin’!
