Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy: Will Jerry Jones finally get out of the way and let his coach run the show?

Well playas, the Dallas Cowboys have announced that their next head coach will be Mike McCarthy. He’s only the ninth head coach in the organization’s history. Along with hiring McCarthy they swooped up the New Orleans Saints linebacker coach, Mike Nolan, as their defensive coordinator.

After wasting everybody’s time over the weekend interviewing cats like Marvin Lewis and hollerin’ at Jeff Fisher they made a move on McCarthy.

The former head coach of the Green Bay Packers comes to Dallas with quite the resume. He walks in the door with a 125-77-2 record with the Packers and he made the playoffs 9 of the 13 seasons he was up there. He also won a Super Bowl and made it to the NFC Championship game twice. He was eventually fired 12 games into the 2018 season after not making it to the playoffs in 2017.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Ole boy walks into Dallas with an NFL resume better than anyone they’ve ever hired. Both Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer came from the college ranks where they both won national championships.

We’ve seen what Jerry Jones has done with coaches with winning resumes and attitudes. Once Jimmy and Barry won Super Bowls and he kept meddling, they wanted space to run their football teams their way and he fired them.

McCarthy comes in knowing what to do and how to do it but will Jerry get in his way or let him do his thing? Has he gotten to a point where he knows that he’s got to finally get out of the way and let his head coach run the show?

He’s not getting any younger and Super Bowls don’t go on sale playa. They’re always on the shelf at the full price. You’ve got to earn them. There are no short cuts and a meddling owner can’t win one to trying to be a puppet master to his head coach.

So will Jerry finally get out of the way or will he be the sucker that he’s previously been and attempt to win by getting in the way and taking all of the credit? We shall see. Stop me when I start lyin’!
