The Finals: Heat vs Lakers or better yet, The Philistine vs Riley! “Beef is Beef”

Well playas…it’s finally come to this. What I thought would be impossible for the NBA to pull off has actually become a reality. We’ve made it to the NBA Finals without a hitch during the middle of a pandemic. Gotta give the NBA mad props for coming up with the “Bubble” and sticking with the guidelines.

Now it’s the Miami Heat verses the Los Angeles Lakers for all of the marbles and a bag of Funyuns. Well…if you’re from a real hood you can throw in the red pop and some frosted penny cookies too.

Going into the playoffs nobody saw this match up coming but it’s got all of the storylines and intrigue to make a Hollywood movie. I’m sorry, it’s 2020. An Atlanta movie because Tyler Perry has changed the game but I digress.

LeBron playing against his former team that he won two NBA titles and two MVP’s with. The team that he decided to leave after four years to go back to the crib even though Pat Riley was hot about his decision. Yeah, that team.

In LeBron’s second year and first full season with the Lakers he’s got them back in title contention where that franchise belongs. It was getting crazy not seeing the Lakers competing for championships as they hadn’t made the playoffs in over six years. He’s restored the brand to prominence. So there’s about 25 percent less haterism on LeBron than there was two years ago because the Lakers have fans all over the country. None the less, there is still a substantial amount of haters walking around looking crazy today because he’s still the best player on the planet.

The Heat show up playing probably the most consistent and hungry basketball than any team in the playoffs led by Jimmy Butler’s ridiculous leadership. Veteran guard Goran Dragic has been riding shotgun “showing suckers how it’s done” in his Kris Kross Mack Daddy voice. Bam Adebayo has been puttin’ in work along with the rookie Tyler Herro. As a unit they’ve been incredible.

However, unless the Heat show up with a dun that has 5 smooth stones and a slingshot in his pocket with the talent to use it. They’re in trouble. The Philistine isn’t going down. Not only is this his 9th trip to the Finals in the past 10 seasons. He comes in for only the 4th time in his career in the Finals as the favorite. In the previous 9 Finals he’s played in he’s only been on the best team 3-times. The Dallas series was the only one he shouldn’t have loss. He simply wasn’t on the best team in the other losses.

Now he brings a Lakers squad in with a young superstar in Anthony Davis that can empty the clip for 30 plus on any given night. Between the two of them they can drop 60 to 70 on a boy and walk off of the floor.

His role players have become more consistent during the course of the playoffs and they’re purrin’ like a kitten right now. Even Dwight Howard has pushed his way into the starting lineup in the Western Conference Finals.

As great as Miami has played during the course of these playoffs. LeBron and AD along with their role players coming through will be a tall order for the Heat.

Not to mention the beef that Pat Riley created with LeBron when he decided to leave South Beach to go back to Cleveland. Yeah, I know that Riley had every right to be upset because he put a lot into building that team but beef is beef and it doesn’t go away until somebody wins.

It should be fun to watch. In my Terrell Owens voice, “Get Ya Popcorn Ready!”
