Sabonis leads Pacers past Knicks with career high 32 points in season opener! “Setting the Tone”

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s hoop season playas!!! And the Indiana Pacers tipped off the 2020-21 season at Bankers Life Fieldhouse by knocking off the New York Knicks 121-107.

Domantas Sabonis led all scorers with a career high 32-points as he set the tone for the Blue and Gold for the night. It wasn’t as easy as the final score made it look. The young Knicks jumped out of the ride and exploded for 66 first half points. However, Indiana tightened the screws in the second half limiting the Knicks to just 36 percent shooting.

Indiana outscored the New York 30-11 in fast break points. They were able to get up and down the floor with ease in transition.

Six Pacers finished in double figures. Victor Oladipo looked like his old self operating as smooth as silk finishing with 22 points. Malcolm Brogdon dropped off 21 points. Doug McDermott added 13 points as Myles Turner finished with 10.

Indiana struggled from 3-point range as they only shot a mere 24 percent from downtown. At least they were able to get out of Game 1 of this 72 game season with a “W.” A win is a win. Up next the Bulls in the Chi on Saturday.
