Even “IF” Indiana offers Tom Allen the bag this week it won’t be enough! “The Rich Get Richer”

BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana Hoosiers are about to close the 2019 football season with a chance to win 8 games!!! They’ve got the Annual Old Oaken Bucket coming up this weekend against in-state rival Purdue. The Boilermakers are on the struggle bus right now and are simply looking to finish the season. They were riddled with injuries early on and have never been able to recover.

However, Tom Allen has had the Hoosiers purring like a kitten for IU standards in 2019.  They’re 7-3 looking to finish the regular season 8-3 if they can get a win in West Lafayette. Under Allen the Hoosiers looked darn good in the first half of Saturday’s ball game against the Wolverines only being down 21-14 at the break and actually punching Michigan in the mouth as they scored first. Then the bottom fell out in the third quarter when the Wolverines scored 18 points to put Indiana away 39-14.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The fact that Allen is recruiting well enough to win 7 or 8 games and they’re now playing on national television means that the IU administration has about 7 days to make a decision on what to do with their head coach.

He’s making a mere $1.8 million as their head coach and “that ain’t gone cut it playa!” The atmosphere has completely changed in Bloomington inside of the football program and it’s all because of Tom Allen. That’s means that Tom Allen needs to be PAID.

Both Arkansas and Florida State are in need of head coaches and they both are willing to back the truck up and unload it. In my opinion, the Hoosiers aren’t wiling to pay the type of money that it takes to keep a great coach so they’ll punt and let the dun go before wrestling with him over the bread because that’s just who IU is.

Allen knows the Florida landscape in terms of recruiting because he was the defensive coordinator at South Florida and knows the highways, byways and streets of the Sunshine state. He’s got 25 kids from Florida on his roster right now.

Florida State needs someone to turn them back into the Florida State that most people were accustomed to knowing. Don’t think for one minute they aren’t going to call him one minute after the Old Oaken Bucket game is over.

Arkansas is in need of a coach as well and they’ll pay the bread too. They’re in the SEC which is football country so it’s a no brainer that they’ve got a bag too.

Indiana is really in a trick bag this week. Even if they offer Allen upwards of $4 million to stay he’ll have more reason to leave because he’s a football coach. Football coaches want to coach at football schools or in places where football is king. Football will NEVER be king at Indiana. There’s an old colloquialism that says “The Rich get richer.”

In terms of college football, the traditional winners keep winning because they keep paying the coaches that can recruit enough horses to keep winning. There’s a reason why the same schools keep winning. Once a coach proves that he can win those same traditional powers offer the bag, swoops them up and the cycle continues.

Florida State won’t be losing for long, trust me on that playa. Why? Because guys like Tom Allen can win even more games at a places like that.

He’s winning at IU of all places!!! That’s almost impossible to do. You’d literally have to go back to Bo McMillin from 1934-1947 to find an IU coach with a winning record. Before that it was Ewald Stiehm from 1916-1921 and then the other cats were right at the turn of the century and into the darn 1800’s.

IU has to at least offer him the bag this week to show some interest. Otherwise, it’s a forgone conclusion that he’ll be in the wind because money talks and you know the rest of the slogan. I wouldn’t be surprised if  the Seminoles aren’t in West Lafayette on Saturday to offer him a job. That’s as real as it gets. Stop me when I start lyin’!
