INDIANAPOLIS — The numbers don’t lie!!! On Friday morning I wrote a Hot Joint entitled “Ship The Trophy” explaining to folks how the numbers said that Center Grove would not only win the Class 6A title on Friday night but would win it easily. Well playas…when the horn blew to zeros at Lucas Oil Stadium the Trojans was walking out of the joint with a commanding 38-14 win.

So now of the last 21 state titles won in the state of Indiana 19 have been won by a M.I.C. (Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference) team. Total dominance by one conference. Westfield didn’t have a chance of making it even competitive. Center Grove went from wire to wire unbeaten and did it effortlessly in the best conference in the state.

Keep in mind that they sprinted through the M.I.C. outscoring their opponents this year 406 to 39. Against non-conference opponents they had outscored them 170 to 41 coming into the title game. They put up 28 answered to start the game before Westfield could even score.

The Rocks looked shook trying to figure out what the license plate number was of the truck that ran them over in the first half.

They finally settled down in the second half and managed to slow the Trojans down but it was too little too late.

Carson Steele did what the War Horse has been doing for the past 4 years and that’s destroying folks. He finished with 138 yards and two touchdowns. Tayven Jackson finished with two passing touchdowns to Trent Veith, who finished with 111 yards receiving.

The best of the best won it all and you’ve got to give Center Grove and coach Eric Moore their props for “showin’ up and showin'” out like my momma used to say. Stop me when I start lyin’!
