WEST SIDE — There is an old hood colloquialism that says, “Forget what you heard! I’m tellin’ you what I know!” Well playas…the War Horse is bigger and better than he’s ever been! No.1 Center Grove’s (4-0, 2-0) Carson Steele is simply a man among boys. The senior running back did work on Ben Davis (1-3, 1-1) on Friday night as he led the Trojans to a 35-12 blasting of the Giants.

Steele got out of the gate like a race horse with blinders on as he finished with 19 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns all of which were scored in the first quarter. Before I could bite into my hot dog good the War Horse had run wild!!! It was like showing up to the Kentucky Derby two minutes late.

Ben Davis made it easy early on by committing several turnovers. Center Grove was good enough on their own. They didn’t need help with turnovers. They turned those into points like Willy Wonka turns sugar into candy.

Quarterback Tayven Jackson scored the other two touchdowns for the Trojans on 1 yard runs each. BD saved a shutout when Jackson was sacked near the Center Grove end zone and the ball popped loose. It fell right into Keoke Toomer’s hands as he ran it in for the 19 yard score.

Late in the fourth quarter BD quarterback J’Uan Swanson hit Rylan Richardson for a 66-yard strike to make it 35-12. Swanson finished the night with a game high 223 yards passing.
