When Paul George sat down with the media to do his postgame interview this week after their first scrimmage. He started a chain reaction throughout the league to continue the awareness of the police brutality and racial injustice that still exists that most cats want to act like has gone away because the NBA and sports are back.

A reporter asked PG how his shoulder felt and he responded with,. “It felt great but I think most importantly, I take this time to give my condolences to the family of the Taylors. Breonna Taylor rest in peace, George Floyd rest in peace. There are so many others out there that have been brutally murdered by the hands of police. That is all I got, that is my message for everyone and that will continue to be my answer.”

Lakers guard Alex Caruso took advantage of his media time to do the same. When asked the typical media questions after their scrimmage he responded with, “Just got information from the rest of the players who are trying to stay united with the message. This is one way we can control it from inside the bubble. It seems to be an important thing. It’s been four months since it happened that she was murdered in her sleep and nobody has been held accountable.”

Player after player had similar responses. I applaud these young cats for using their platforms to bring awareness to this ridiculous problem in America. Racism is as much American as apple pie, baseball and hamburgers and it’s a darn shame.

It’s disgusting that they even have to use their platforms to bring attention to a murder at the hands of the police. Like Caruso said, it’s been four months since a young black woman was killed by the police in her sleep and no one as been held accountable for her death.

Thanks fellas for being a light during this time of social unrest in our country. It’s great to see that our celebrities and athletes still care about what’s going on with everyday people. Stop me when I start lyin’!
