Why the IU basketball program is a dumpster fire stuck in the stone ages! “Wake Up”

IU head coach Archie Miller trying to figure out what just happended as the Hoosiers fall to Wichita State in the NIT at home.

BLOOMINGTON — Let me start off by saying what I’ve been saying, “At some point y’all gone start listenin’ to me.” The Indiana Hoosiers finally did what I told you they would do last week when they accepted the stupid invitation to play in the NIT. They wet the bed!!! On Tuesday night they got blasted and man handled by the No.6 seeded Wichita State 73-63 at the crib and they were the No.1 seed.

In a crazy Hot Joint I wrote a week ago entitled “No Win Situation” I said that IU was making a serious mistake by even playing in the darn NIT because they weren’t good enough to win it all. Take the “L” of not making it to the NCAA Tournament and keep it movin’. Don’t play in the NIT because you’ll only look worse by getting beat by some garbage program.

I also said that Romeo Langford shouldn’t play in the tournament because it would only hurt his draft status if he didn’t play well and it wouldn’t help him increase it at all. At least he was smart enough to sit his butt down and not risk his future by getting hurt or dropping on the draft board.

Now that the Hoosiers have been eliminated how easy will it be for other big time programs to player hate them when they walk into the living rooms of 4 and 5-star recruits? Too easy bruh! Why on earth, if you’re a serious ball player at McDonald’s All-American status or close would you consider playing in Bloomington?

They did all of that chasing of Romeo Langford a year ago to end up in the NIT and losing to Wichita State. Don’t think for one minute that other big time recruits weren’t watching that foolishness take place in Bloomington on Tuesday night.

Not when cats like Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett are on every channel in America because they chose to play together to make a run to the Final Four. This thing is no different than what cats are doing in the NBA and now it’s about to be Chris Brown “On and Poppin'” with cats doing it forever. Kentucky’s been doing it but it’s about to be on steroids. No other “One and Done” cat is going to branch off to play at some mediocre program by himself ever again.

If you’re good enough to be considered a “One and Done” then why not team up with some other “One and Done” type-cats at a Blue Blood program and try to win a championship during the one and only year you’re in college? Makes sense to me.

Why show up at a terrible program that doesn’t understand how to win at this level anymore and go to the stupid NIT even when it made no sense to. IU’s still operating in the stone ages like I’ve being saying for years and now they’re sitting around this morning trying to figure out what happened.

They keep recruiting the same types of players that play with absolutely NO heart. I don’t care how talented they are you can’t win if they don’t play with a sense of urgency. There’s no flavor or grit in the program. NONE whatsoever!!!

I’ve been saying for years that they fired Kelvin Sampson because the powers that be didn’t want him down there even when the AD was smart enough to hire him. They snooped around and found a rule that was equal to J-Walking at the time and fired him using an intern to blow the whistle. Ole boy was text messaging players which was a practice that was so common among coaches that it’s no longer a violation of the NCAA rules. It was more progressive than it was illegal that’s why it’s no longer a violation.

Now Kelvin Sampson’s back in the college game after having to sit out 5 years with the Houston Cougars in the Sweet Sixteen laughing at IU with a program that should be in the NIT. Put that one in your pocket for kicks and giggles.

When I tell all of these IU fans that the program needs flavor and some 21st Century charisma they tell me I’m crazy but the Hoosiers are a dumpster fire. Every program in America that’s winning changes with the times. Coach K vowed he’d never recruit a “One and Done” more than 20 years ago. Then Corey Maggette showed up on Duke’s campus in 1998 he’s been recruiting “One and Done” players every year since. Why? Because he knows he’s got to win and they’ll help him win.

Who brought the only “One and Done” player to IU before Langford? Kelvin Sampson!!! It was Eric Gordon. Sampson did it text messaging a player that had already committed to Illinois but IU thought that it made sense to fire him. They’ve been a dumpster fire ever sense.

Like I’ve been saying for years. They’re stuck in the stone ages and can’t get out of the bubble. At some point they’ll wake up down there and meet  us in the 21st century. Stop me when I start lyin’!
