FORT WORTH, TX. — Everybody and their baby’s momma has an opinion of Terrell Owen’s decision not to attend the Hall of Fame Ceremony in Canton, OH. next month. On Saturday, while attendin’ the National Fantasy Football Convention in Fort Worth, the Play Maker, Michael Irvin, was asked about how he felt about T.O.’s latest decision.

Ole boy was a real as you could get while answerin’ the question. He broke it down like this, “I was disappointed that we will be cheated as a Hall of Fame team, one of our teammates, that he took that decision to skip the ceremonies. Of course everybody says, ‘He has the right to make the decision.’ Yes, he does and we have the right to say we don’t like it. It is what it is.”

He goes on to say, “And I’m also disappointed because, you know, we fought for T.O. It wasn’t like T.O. had said that it didn’t matter, ‘I don’t care about being in the Hall,’ or, ‘I don’t care about that at all.’ Then everybody wouldn’t have invested emotions and feelings into it and we did … We talked about it, tried to get him in. We talked about it on air because he rightfully belongs in there. Then he gets in and he makes that decision, I was absolutely disappointed about it.”

That’s real talk right there playa. In the Crazy Hot Joint I wrote on Saturday entitled “Respect” I explained to boyz that T.O. hasn’t lied to anyone about who he was. He’s bein’ who he is. He’s no different than our current president on in the sense that he didn’t lie to anyone about who he was. I don’t agree with their behavior but they haven’t lied to anyone about who they are. So why get upset with T.O. now.

I just believe that he’s missin’ out on a huge opportunity to be a blessin’ to so many people.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! T.O.’s got some issues of abandonment that he’s never addressed. He’s like so many kids in America that never knew their father and he acts like it doesn’t matter. If you didn’t know his story, and most people don’t, his father lived right across the street from him with his own family while he was growin’ up. The man never spoke to him or acknowledged him.

That’s enough to trip anybody out. I just believe that because T.O.’s been able to become so great after comin’ out of that situation is a testimony that needs to be told on a Hall of Fame stage durin’ HOF weekend. There are a lot of young people that can relate to that story and he could be a blessing to them.

The only reason that I watch the induction ceremony is to hear the stories of triumph that these cats are able to tell. It’s one of the most motivatin’ evenings of the year. I loved hearin’ the stories of Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe, Cris Carter and so many others.

The most recent one that stands out to me was Shannon Sharpe tellin’ the story of gettin’ ready to go to Savannah State with everything that he owned in two garbage bags. The dun didn’t even have luggage bruh. Do you know how many times I’ve seen kids go off to college with their clothes in garbage bags? There were so many kids that could relate to that story and I can guarantee that he inspired a lot of people that night.

T.O. has a chance to do the same thing but he’s so selfish that he can’t understand the impact that his life could have on so many others by just tellin’ his story with a gold jacket on, on August 4th in Canton. It’s sad but it’s T.O. not havin’ worked through the healin’ process to become a blessing to others. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
