THE FAR EAST SIDE — Now that the high school football season is over and the Warren Central Warriors has gone wire to wire ranked No.1 finishing 14-0 and holding the Class 6A State Championship trophy. The anticipation for the biggest football award given to the most outstanding player of the season is making everybody go NUTS!!! Everybody and their baby’s momma’s momma, Ms. Jackson, is waiting for the announcement of the Mr. Football Award given annually by the Indianapolis Star. Well…everybody but me.
Why? Because there is no logic that could justify giving the award to anybody other than Warren Central’s Romeir Elliott. Yes, there were a lot of great players competing this season but NOBODY balled out better than Secretariat from THE FAR EAST SIDE! That’s what I call him because he literally galloped over everybody on the schedule.
Ole boy finished with 302 carries for 2,980 yards and 40 rushing TD’s against the best competition in the state. Like I said to open this dissertation, Warren Central went 14-0 this season. They weren’t playing cupcakes like Alabama has done all season. They played in the M.I.C. then turned around and had to play the M.I.C. again in the playoffs all of the way to the Class 6A State Title game to beat Carmel. So out of the 14 games they actually played this season 12 of them were against M.I.C. teams. That’s NUTS!!!
He put up 2,980 yards and 40 touchdowns against that!! The other two teams that they played outside of the conference were two of the best teams in the state of Kentucky, Louisville Trinity on the road and Bowling Green!!! Are you kidding me? He averaged 212 yards per game against that type of gauntlet. Why are we even having this discussion?
Ship that man the trophy so we can move on to hoop season. If anybody other than Romeir Elliott walks out of the joint with the award it would be highway robbery. You can’t look at the work that he’s put in this season and not vote for him. Stop me when I start lyin’!
This is what greatness looks like playas! When you see him out in these streets give him a pound and keep it movin’!
