Holding one person accountable for the racist Willie Taggart post is a joke! “Viral means more than one”

On last Saturday shortly after Florida State got the brakes beaten off of them by rival Florida 41-14 some fool posted a racist picture showing Willie Taggart getting lynched on an FSU fan site. The picture went viral and on Monday after an investigation the person responsible for the post was fired from his job at Hilton Grand Vacations.

Lauren George, a spokesperson for Hilton Grand Vacations had this to say about the unnamed employee, “Our concern regarding this situation has been a top priority. The person responsible for posting this information has been terminated. His behavior was in violation of multiple company policies and the furthest example from being a reflection of our company’s values.”

Now let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! That all sounds good but why aren’t they naming the person that posted it? Why does he get to remain anonymous after openly being racist on the fan site? And most importantly, why aren’t the other fools that helped it to go viral being held accountable?

What always blows my mind is that people will say that it’s only a few bad apples out here but that’s simply not true. However, something going viral doesn’t happen because there were just a couple of bad apples. In order for it to go viral thousands of idiots had to have shared it. So why aren’t they being investigated and called out?

In order to get to the root of the problem of racism everybody involved in racist behavior should be reprimanded or called out. Firing the person that lit the fire and not dealing with all of the others that blew oxygen on it is like putting a band aid on a wide open gash of an arterial artery. They’ve solved nothing by firing him and protecting his name. Protecting him is to protect the ignorant institution of racism itself.

I know that the State’s Attorney’s office said that they are investigating this foolishness but are they going to hold all of the sharers of this ignorance accountable? If not then it’s all for nothing. Fighting racism has to be real, otherwise this country will never move forward. I’m tired of hearing folks tell us that there are only a few bad apples but no one is willing to stand up against them and call their behavior out. Stop me when I start lyin’!
