Why Kawhi Leonard’s impending free agency isn’t a talking point but Kevin Durant’s is! “Next Question”

Isn’t it funny that the maturity of the player and their ability to handle the media plays a huge part in how they’re treated in terms of their impending free agency? Kawhi Leonard can become an unrestricted free agent this summer by not signing his current player option and nobody’s talking about it. As a matter of fact, people don’t even care to bring it up because they already know that he’s not going to talk about it.

On the other hand, everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man has the answer as to where Kevin Durant will be playing next year. Why? Because the dun hasn’t established a reputation of just keeping his business to himself. He’s the same cat that had a burner account out here blasting his former team once he dipped from OKC and he’s the same cat on Twitter arguing with fans and trying to prove points.

So when it’s time for speculation on impending free agency it’s always weird that information starts to leak out of boy’s pore in or around his circle as to what he may or may not do. Kawhi will be the same free agent come July as everybody else because he’s probably not going to sign the player option, at least not for the bread that’s currently on the table. However, there are no leaks as to what he’s going to go. Boyz are speculating but no one has an educated guess on what he may do. Why? Because of the maturity of the player my friend. In my hood vernacular, “He ain’t talkin’ playa!”

Leonard simply goes to work and does his job. He’s given no indication as to what he’s going to do after this season is over. His nose is to the grind and he’s trying to win in the situation that he’s in right now.

Who’s to say that the dun doesn’t just stay put in Toronto for a better deal of course. He’s led them to the Eastern Conference Finals right now!! They were down 0-2 going into Games 3 and 4 and now it’s all knotted up 2-2 with Kawhi dropping 19 points on a boy behind Kyle Lowry’s 25 points on Tuesday night.

It’s great to see a player handle his business without ever talking about what he may or may not do. He’s been able to cut the media off by setting the tone from the beginning. All boyz have to do is to say, “I’m not talking about free agency at all. Next question!” Stop me when I start lyin’!

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.
