Why Draymond Green should be thanking Kevin Durant for leaving! “The Perfect Storm”

Remember when it was reported that Draymond Green told Kevin Durant that they didn’t need him once he joined the Golden State Warriors three years ago? Ole boy told KD that they had already won a title without him so they could really do without him. Well…they went on to win two more with KD.

That was the big stink a couple of years ago. Well playas…ole Draymond needs to call KD this morning and thank him for leaving to play in Brooklyn because the Warriors had room to extend his contract another 4 years to the tune of $100 million. Over the next five years ole boy will make $118 million. He’s making $18.7 million this season. Then the new deal kicks in  during the 2020-21 season paying him $22.2 million, $24 million, $25.8 million and $27.6 million. That’s NUTS!!!!

Had KD chosen to stay Draymond would have been like Fred Flintstone banging on the front door trying to get back in.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Draymond needed KD to walk because playing in Golden State is the perfect storm for him. He was a second round draft pick that really didn’t have a true position because of his flaws and height. He’s 6’7″ and isn’t a great ball handler or shooter. He’s got a crazy motor though. So he’s a monster defensively.

What has helped him is that he’s had shooters all around him in an offense that was perfect for him. It hides his flaws as a basketball player. On any other team he gets exposed big time. On any other team he’s a marginal player at best.

Think about it playa. He’s been been on the NBA’s All-Defensive first or second team for five straight seasons and he was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. That’s that motor I was talking about. But would we have even seen that aspect of his game playing in a different offensive system without those shooters on the floor?

As a result of being in the perfect storm he’s a 3-time NBA Champion and a 3-time NBA All-Star. And the perfect storm has allowed him to make darn near $200 million before his 30th birthday. Stop me when I start lyin’!
