TORONTO — For the first time in nine years there will be an NBA Finals played without LeBron James in it. That’s crazy to even think about but it’s going down starting tonight as the Golden State Warriors visit the Toronto Raptors for Game 1. Everybody and their Uncle LeRoy has been cheering against Golden State because they claim to be tired of them winning.
When Kevin Durant went down with a calf injury during the Western Conference Semifinals against Houston boyz got really fired up hoping that it would be a wrap for the Warriors but it’s been quite the opposite. As crazy as it sounds they are a much better TEAM without KD on the floor.
I said once he got hurt that they wouldn’t lose another game the rest of the way simply because the ball moves better without KD and we’ve seen it with our own eyes over the past series. They were able to sweep Portland and send those duns fishing early. Now it’s time to take care of business against Kawhi and Co.
Now initially I said that they wouldn’t lose another game the rest of the way but they’ve been too good and by sweeping Portland they put themselves into a trick bag. By sprinting through the Trail Blazers and having to sit for a week and a half their timing and rhythm will be off during this Game 1. The fact that Toronto is still in a groove rhythm-wise they’ve got the advantage at least in Game 1 or at least in the first half of Game 1.
Kawhi and Co. did work in the Eastern Conference semi’s and Finals to make their first ever NBA Finals and folks up their are probably beside themselves in anticipation of the biggest sporting event to ever hit Canada. So you already know that it’s about to be crazy up there.
The fact that the Raptors have the first two ball games in this series at the crib is huge but they’ve got to win both and in my opinion that ain’t gone happen playa. They may get one but winning two is next to impossible.
I just can’t wait for Draymond Green to walk up on Drake and tell him to sit his butt down and that’s the edited version. You already know that it’s going to happen because Draymond or better yet ,Day-Day, can’t wait to tell him. It’s probably going to happen in Game 1 to get it crackin’. In my Bart Scott voice, “Can’t Wait!” Stop me when I start lyin’!
