LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP — The Almighty Sectional 10 tipped off on Tuesday night with Warren Central and Arsenal Tech bumpin’ heads. Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! It’s going to be hard to get a seat at Lawrence Central over the next few days.
The boyz from the FAR EAST SIDE came through in the Big Body Chevy with junior guard Malik Stanley leaning in front seat with the homie Derek Jefferson riding shot gun.
WC jumped out of the whip and went on a 5-0 run with crazy defense to keep Tech on its heels. They quickly went up 9-3 as Stanley got going. He scored 8 of his total 19 points within the first 5 minutes of the game. The Warriors went up 17-6 before I could bite into my hot dog and ask for sip of Diet Coke.
They opened the 2nd quarter on a 16-4 run with Tech unable to hit an elephant in the butt with a bass fiddle. The kids from the FAR EAST SIDE were purring like kittens with Stanley leading the way. Defensively they were on fire as Tech continued to struggle to find a rhythm. At the break WC was up 45-20 and not looking back.
Stanley came out of the break as smooth as silk on the defensive end ripping boyz, taking it the length of the floor for the easy layup. Derek Jefferson was consistent all night getting buckets and once Elijah Ray got started it was Chris Brown “On and Poppin'” up in that piece. WC at that point went on a 17-4 run to start the 2nd half and it was a matter of formality at that point.
Stanley finished the night with 19 points sitting on 24’s as Jefferson dropped off 12 points. Elijah Ray came through with 10 on his way to Big Momma’s house. Solid performance by the young Warrior team.
