The Last Dance was the greatest sports documentary of All-Time! “INCREDIBLE”

For the past five weeks the world has been captivated by “The Last Dance” a 10-part documentary on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The dynasty ended with 6 championships in a span of 8 years. It was the best sports documentary I’ve ever seen.

It was incredible that in 1998 they had the wherewithal to film every aspect of that final season and to literally hold on to the footage until now. INCREDIBLE!!!

What was so amazing was the amount of detail that was put into the making of it as they swung forward and backwards on the timeline to tell the story.

I was glad to see the in-depth look at Jordan’s personality during this run and how he communicated not only with his teammates but also the opposing teams, good or bad. We’ve alway known that he talked $100 worth of noise but it wasn’t always shown on camera because there was no such thing as social media at the time. So it was cool to see it during this documentary.

As the Bulls became a winning franchise from 1991-1998 I was working in Chicago at the time. I’d grown up next door in Gary, Indiana and the Bulls were terrible my entire childhood. So when they finally started winning it was an awesome feeling in and around the city of Chicago. It was intoxicating to watch because I’d known how bad they were growing up. You could darn near go to Bulls games from free.

Jordan led the Bulls as well as the NBA into the global marketing of the league. According to the late David Stern, that in 1992 the NBA was in 80 countries and at the taping of this documentary it was in more than 250 countries. INCREDIBLE. All credit goes to the one and only Michael Jordan.

Fans all over the world fell in love with his game, his infectious stardom and the Jordan Brand. Now the game is bigger than life because fans can now buy a piece of his legacy every time a shoe comes out. INCREDIBLE!! You’ve got to give the credit to MJ. The Jordan Brand is like the Gucci of sports wear and it has created a culture in and of itself.

The fact that everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man have been sitting in front of their televisions watching this thing for the past five Sundays says it all. And please don’t tell me that there was nothing else on because of the pandemic. This documentary was going to get these types of ratings whenever it would have come on. Why? Because it’s Michael Jordan.

For those of us that were blessed to see his entire career from college through to the end with the Washington Wizards it was intriguing. All of the young cats that aren’t old enough to have seen him play that have been watching highlights of him on Youtube. It was a deep dive into the history of the most influential sports figure in the history of sports. I wish there would have been 15 episodes.

There are plenty of guys that are considered the GOAT like Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady, Babe Ruth, Usain Bolt, and Serena Williams in their respective sports. And in my opinion, GOAT doesn’t always mean the best player we’ve ever seen. I think that Goat encompasses not only ability to play the sports but also the persons influence in and around the sport. However, Jordan is the GOAT because of the overwhelming influence not only in the game of basketball but from a pop culture and fashion standpoint. He’s bigger than life. The dun is freakin’ martyr and he’s still alive. INCREDIBLE!!!

It was great to see “The Last Dance” as they peeled the onion back. When is the next joint coming out. Stop me when I start lyin’!
