The AP All-State team is dominated by the MIC. Further proving it’s worth as the best conference!

INDIANA — The AP All-State team was announced on Wednesday and the MIC (Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference) does what it always seems to do. They did what Big Momma used to always say, “They showed their bare bottoms!” In other words, they represented to the fullest.

On the offensive side of the ball there were four players from the MIC starting with junior quarterback from Lawrence North Donaven McCulley. The 6’5″ 195 lb stud leads the way for the 2020 season after having a great junior campaign.

Running back Alijawon “AJ” Hassel from Ben Davis showed out every Friday totting the rock. For some strange reason he kept flying under the radar all season as the best running back in the state. I’m just glad that they finally woke up and gave him his props. This kid could go!!

Then there was North Central’s Richard Hamilton at wide out. Ole boy was a beast at running routes and coming down with the ball. Lastly, there was Center Grove’s Ethan Crowe on the O-line. Talk about moving mountains!!! This kid did work all season long.

OFFENSE

QB – Donaven McCulley, 6-5, 195, Jr., Lawrence North

RB – Alijawon Hassel, 5-7, 175, Sr., Ben Davis

RB – Donny Marcus, 6-0, 190, Sr., Brownsburg

WR – Preston Terrell, 6-4, 200, Jr., Brownsburg

WR – Richard Hamilton, 6-2, 172, Sr., North Central

TE – Mitchell Collier, 6-2, 220, Sr., Columbus North

OL – Blake Fisher, 6-6, 340, Jr., Avon

OL – Ethan Crowe, 6-5, 305, Sr., Center Grove

OL – Martes Lewis, 6-7, 330, Sr., Merrillville

OL – Randy Holtz, 6-7, 345, Sr., Fort Wayne Snider

OL – Gus Hartwig, 6-5, 305, Sr., Zionsville

K – Harrison Mevis, 6-1, 225, Sr., Warsaw

ALL-PURPOSE – Jeremiah Howard, 5-11, 175, Sr., Merrillville

The Defensive All-State lineup was even more MIC than the offensive side of the ball. Out of the 12 players 8 of them were from the MIC. Further proving that the conference is the most dominant in the state.

There were three kids from Carmel which included defensive lineman Cole Brevard, safety Ty Wise and defensive back Garrett Sharp. Center Grove showed up with Caden Curry at DL. Warren Central brought two to the party with DL Marquis Cross and Randy Wells at DB. Lawrence Central dropped off LB Daveren Rayner. To close out the roster Ben Davis comes in with the straight stud junior defensive back Daylan Carnell.

I know folks get tired of me talking about how good the MIC is but the proof is in the pudding. When the AP All-State teams come out and 12 of the players are from one conference along with the Class 6A state title game being an All MIC affair there’s nothing else to say but UNCLE. Big shout to all the players on this list. What an outstanding job. Stop me when I start lyin’!
