Everybody’s so fired up to see Super Bowl LV that they’re making things up just to build a story. Everywhere I turn there is some silly comparison of Tom Brady’s resume to Patrick Mahome’s resume. I’ve even heard cats on major networks calling it the GOAT vs. the Future GOAT.
Okay playas…let’s stop with this foolishness. In my Birdman voice, “Y’all better start putting some “respeck” on Tom Brady’s name!”
TB12 has earned his name as the GOAT over a 20 year period of consistency and winning. He’s been doing this like Franky Beverly at the summertime state fairs. Twenty years in the league and he’s been to 10 Super Bowls winning 6 of them already. He’s a 4-time Super Bowl MVP and a 3-time league MVP. That’s just for starters. We’d be here all day dropping his entire book of accolades.
Patrick Mahomes is just getting started and there are no guarantees that he’ll be as consistent over the long haul. He’s only been in the league for three seasons. Sure, he’s been to two Super Bowls and he’s won one. So he’s off to a great start but there are no guarantees at this point.
However, to start calling him the future GOAT is asinine. This could literally be it for him. We don’t know what the future holds. He’s great right now but to slide him up to Tom Brady and start making comparisons to the greatest quarterback to ever live is disrespectful. Three years verses 20 years of high level consistency is crazy.
If we want to talk about the old school verses the new school. Then have at it. But let’s stop with the future GOAT foolishness until he starts creeping up on 3 or 4 Super Bowls in 10 years or something.
We all know how dangerous this game is and because it’s a game of attrition we don’t know how long Mahomes will be blessed to play it. Tom Brady has been able to survive for 20 years. That’s darn near impossible to do and he’s been winning.
He’s 43 years old still leading teams to the ultimate goal. Stop with this foolishness. This man has been to 10 Super Bowls in 20 years. That means that he’s played for a championship every other year of his career over a long period of time. 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are a ton of cats Mahomes has to climb over before we start putting him in the same conversations as TB12. Stop me when I start lyin’!
