Duns can say what they want about Paul George but you can’t call him broke and you can’t call him stupid. Ole boy just signed a 5-year super max extension with the Clippers worth $226 million. The new deal adds four years and $190 million to his current deal, which was already set up to pay him $35.4 million in 2020-21.
The new contract secures his future over the next 5 seasons with the Clippers including a player option in 2024-25.
Yeah, it’s a lot of boyz out there talking bad about PG because he’s guilty of just revealing way too much in interviews. I covered him for 7 seasons in Indianapolis when he was with the Pacers and I never could understand why he just couldn’t say “I’m not answering that” to the media. He’s guilty of revealing way too much of what he’s thinking or saying what he thinks the media wants to hear.
He’s one of the nice guys in the NBA and duns that don’t know him are always talking bad about him. But again, one thing you can’t say is that he’s broke or stupid because he keeps getting big checks. After his rookie deal expired he signed a $95 million deal with the Pacers before getting traded to OKC where he signed a $136 million deal. Now he just hit the Clip Joint for $226 million. You do the math playa! That’s more than more than $457 million in contracts not including his rookie deal since 2010. Not very many people can say they’ve made that type of bread in 10 years. Sure, he hasn’t cashed all of the checks yet but if he’s still breathing in 2025 he will.
Do you really think Paul George gives a rip about what duns are saying about him at this point? C’mon man! If he never wins a championship he’s straight. Only so many cats will ever win one anyway. And at the end of the day you can’t eat the rings in your old age. Give me the bread any day. I would chose the bread over a championship any day of the week. Why? Because in my book getting paid and having financial security is more important. If you live long enough you’ll get old. When you’re old you need money. Stop me when I start lyin’!
