Romeo Langford could be the start of what SHOULD have been in Bloomington years ago! “An Elite Program”

Now that Romeo Langford, the McDonald’s All-American and 5th ranked player in the nation, has decided to stay home and play for the Indiana Hoosiers. It could literally become a re-birth of Indiana Basketball. The problem that IU has run into for decades is that the best players in the state haven’t always stayed at home.

However, every year there are elite level or should I say NBA level kids comin’ out of this state goin’ somewhere else to play. But I’ve got to give it to Romeo bruh. What he did was pure genius in not only buildin’ the excitement around his announcement by waitin’ until April 30th after the season was completely over and after winnin’ the Mr. Basketball Award this past Sunday.

He was like the darn Pied Piper all season long. Everywhere he played duns pulled up in IU gear and those disgustin’ Candy Stripe pants to sing the IU fight song and scream his name. Now don’t get it twisted, I’m and IU grad but I’m not into grown men and women chasin’ kids around tryin’ to influence their decisions on where they should go to school. I think that’s disgustin’. He could have gone anywhere and I would have been cool because I’ve got a degree. I’m happy that he stayed home to hoop because I’d like to see the program become what it should have been years ago.

Let’s proceed. Everybody and their baby’s momma knows that the biggest news paper in the state is part of the IU marketin’ and promotions team so by him not tellin’ folks where he was goin’ he received free advertisin’ all season long. Sure, he was the best player in the state and was one of the most sought after players in several years. However, in recent years we’ve had a few McDonald’s All-Americans that won the Mr. Basketball award that chose to go elsewhere and the love dried up once they announced that IU wasn’t on their list.

However, the fact that IU was still on his list kept the media around this piece interested in followin’ him until April 30th. It was PURE GENIUS. When they did the video tribute to him durin’ his announcement and I saw duns from the newspaper on it I knew he was goin’ to IU. Do you really think that if he were goin’ to Vandy or Kansas boyz would have participated. Genius I say!!!

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Now that Romeo has become a Hoosier will this encourage other elite level players to head to Bloomington? I hope so, because this state produces some of the best players in the country EVERY year. There’s no way that IU shouldn’t be on the level of Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Villanova every year.

Think about all of the kids in the NBA right NOW that are from Indiana that didn’t go to IU. Let me put it where the goats can get it. Duns like Mike Conley Jr. (Ohio State), Gary Harris (Michigan State), Gordon Hayward (Butler), George Hill (IUPUI), Courtney Lee (Western Kentucky), Trey Lyles (Kentucky), Josh McRoberts (Duke), E’Twaun Moore (Purdue), Mason and Marshall Plumlee (Duke), Zach Randolph (Michigan State), Glenn Robinson III (Michigan), Jeff Teague (Wake Forest), Tyler Zeller (North Carolina), RJ Hunter (Georgia State).

Those are just the players that are in the league right now bruh!!!! Think about all of the kids that Indiana has missed on over the past 30 years!!! Indiana Basketball could literally be the best program in the country if the best players in this state had a reason to stay.

Now that Romeo’s taken the dive into Hoosiers waters hopefully other elite level players comin’ up behind him will give ole Archie Miller a shot too. This could be the start of somethin’ special. Salute to Romeo and his family for always handlin’ themselves with class and professionalism.  Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.

3) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
