Rockets GM Daryl Morey costs the team MILLIONS with a single tweet! “Think Before You Hit Send”

My mother-n-law always says, “Don’t put your shovel where they’re ain’t on crap.” Well…that’s the edited version but you get my drift. Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey decided that it was a good idea to tweet out “Fight for Freedom. Stand for Hong Kong” in reference to the pro-democracy protests that have been going on there for months.

Ole boy deleted the tweet after he saw it created an uproar over the weekend. Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta tried to clean it up by tweeting that “Morey was NOT speaking for the Rockets and that the organization was NOT political.” Morey tried to apologize but it was too late. By that time the Chinese government, the Chinese Basketball Association and a plethora of Chinese businesses had already thrown the Rockets out with the bath water. In other words, they’d severed ties with the team.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Morey jumped out of the birthday cake, butt naked, foaming at the mouth before he actually thought about how it would effect the team’s business. What the Chinese are doing politically has nothing to do with what the Rockets are doing from a business stand point. Yes, the Chinese government is Communist. However, the NBA is currently doing business with them because they love basketball. Period!!!

Do you realize that over 500 million Chinese people watched the NBA on Tencent last year. That’s their version of League Pass. Now the Rockets have been essentially banned from making all of that bread. Why? Because Morey wanted to make a statement.

That’s cool but it just cost the team millions when he could have simply left it alone. Sure, we all want to see other countries become democracies because we’re a democracy. However, not every country that we do business with has the same culture we have but we still do business with them.

So if you want continue to do business with them just let them be who they’re going to be.  Always understand that cultures are different and everybody doesn’t operate in the same manor. So if you want their money unfortunately, you’ve got hold your tongue.

You can’t make political statements and think that you’re going to keep taking a boy’s money. Stop me when I start lyin’!
