WEST LAFAYETTE — It’s turning out to be a crazy Big Ten hoop season because duns are going down to cats that, on paper, they should be blasting. On Saturday the unranked Hoosiers jumped all over No.11 Ohio State in Bloomington. Then on Saturday No.8 Michigan State pulled up on unranked Purdue and got the breaks, doors, transmission and back windows blown off of them in West Lafayette 71-42.

It was the fewest points scored all season for the Spartans and it was the largest margin of victory in this rivalry. That’s NUTS!!! The Boilermakers were staggering on defense giving Cassius Winston the blues holding him to only 10 points on 4-13 shooting.

The Boilermakers were led by Trevion Williams who put up 16 points followed by senior Evan Boudreaux coming off of the bench with 11 points. He not only helped in the scoring column but ole boy played hella defense on Saturday.

Purdue got 10 apiece from both Eric Hunter Jr. and Sasha Stefanovic as they climbed all over the Spartans.

It was Purdue from the word go as they shot 46 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the arc. Their three-point shooting wouldn’t seem great under normal circumstances but they held Michigan State to 13 percent shooting from 3-point land.

Neither squad could make a free throw to save their lives. MSU shot 67 percent from the foul line and Purdue connected on only 61 percent of their free throws.

As Tom Izzo’s crew drops their first conference game the Boilermakers find confidence in the huge win. They are now 3-3 in the Big Ten looking to turn the ship around. Up next for the Boilermakers play Maryland on Saturday on the road. Michigan State bumps head with Wisconsin this Friday at home.
