Paul Finebaum hates on Deion Sanders for leading Jackson State’s program. “He’s using it as a stepping stone.”

There are haters and then there are straight up haters. With everybody celebrating the efforts of Deion Sanders taking the leap of faith to lead the Jackson State football program. ESPN College football SEC analyst Paul Finebaum decided to put on his haters uniform with extra sauce on the side to talk down on all the good that Coach Prime is doing in Jackson, Mississippi.

HBCU’s for more than 50 years have been left in the dust as a result of major college programs finally figuring out that the black athlete was a money maker and worth allowing an opportunity to attend classes on their campuses. Help us make this money and we’re cool.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! They don’t care about the “student-athlete” they just want the money that comes with winning. If the kid graduates cool. If he doesn’t cool. As long as they school had the money at the end of that “student athlete’s” 4 or 5 years.

The bid schools have the the resources and the exposure and once they started integrating, the HBCU programs were left baron. All of the best players that were once attending HBCU’s are now allowed to go to the predominantly white institutions.

All of a sudden Deion Sanders has the idea/calling to take his fame and notoriety to Jackson State and he’s bringing big time recruits with him. Ole Paul Finebaum and cats like him (haters that is) are upset that he’s looking out for his own instead of begging some bigger university for a job. He’s Deion Sanders and he understands the power of influence he already has. He doesn’t need the big school to get players to believe in his vision.

While on the WJOX Roundtable earlier this week Finebaum said, “I think he wants to take a swing at big-time college or the NFL. Whether it’s his alma mater or somewhere else, but more than anything it’s a marketing tool. He’s getting coverage and he wasn’t getting all that much before that.

He goes on to say, “I think that’s all there is. You know the same about him as we all do. Can he sustain himself, his ego and his desire for bigger and better by being the coach at Jackson State? It’s a stepping stool. And by the way, they’re getting something out of it, too. Would anybody who cared about their game against Edward Waters if he had not been the coach?”

First of all playa…everyone that started coaching somewhere was using it as a stepping stone. So to say that further proves that he’s hating on the fact that Jackson State is suddenly getting unbelievable exposure and better players. JSU has been on television more in the last two months than they have been in the history of the school and it’s certainly all because of Coach Prime.

That was the freakin’ point of going down there in the first place. He’s bringing exposure to the University and ultimately money. The only reason they’ve got the best recruiting class in modern day HBCU football as history is because of Deion. That was never a secret Paul. That was the reason he put on the “THEE I LOVE” shirt in the first place.

He’s trying to prove to kids that you can come to an HBCU and still get to the NFL if that’s your dream. We all know that he won’t be there forever but what coach at that level with the opportunity to upgrade stays? If JSU can keep him for 3 years they’re still winning and improving the university’s bottom line. That was the point all along. Help the school upgrade with enrollment and make more money.

For Finebaum to say that JSU is getting something out of it too is an insult. Isn’t Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida etc. etc. etc. getting something out of it too? They all are making a fortune off of their football programs and they don’t care two dead flies smashed whether the kids graduate or not.

Aren’t all of the coaches in the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, PAC-12 and Big 12 getting something out of it? Aren’t they making a fortune off of the backs of black athletes and have been for decades? Why can’t JSU make a fortune and help them graduate or get to the NFL too. So why is Deion Sanders wrong for going to an HBCU.

If he’d gone to Bowling Green or Western Michigan to start his college coaching career would you have said that he’s using it as a stepping stone? Haters are going to hate but Deion Sanders is on a mission and we’re thankful for his effort. Stop me when I start lyin’!
