Coach Prime’s debut at Jackson State is just the beginning of GREAT things! 53-0!! “Do You Believe? I Believe!”

JACKSON, MISS — On Sunday the Jackson State football program finally opened their season under the new leadership of Deion Sanders, Coach Prime if ya nasty. Everybody’s been sitting on the edge of their seats to see what the Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl Champion has put together in the lab.

When the smoke finally cleared the Tigers of Jackson State had beaten the brakes, doors and transmission off of the NAIA’s Edward Waters 53-0. It was a great start to the Coach Prime era at JSU.

Even though Edward Waters isn’t playing at the same level as JSU. The Tigers did what they were supposed to do against an NAIA team to start the season.

Putting 53-0 points up against them was a great indicator of what Coach Prime and Co. will be able to do this season. It was the first shut out for JSU’s defense since September 6, 2014. That’s an awesome accomplishment.

Sunday’s game was the first of a 7-game season that the Tigers will play this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic delaying the 2020 football season last fall.

On Saturday they start SWAC play by hosting in-state rival Mississippi Valley State.

The excitement around the program is unmatched and rightfully so. Deion has come to Jackson and literally transformed the spirit of HBCU football and the possibility of what could happen if our best players committed themselves to our HBCU’s.

Sanders has assembled the best class in the history of HBCU football. It’s the top-ranked class at the FCS level, the top-ranked class in the SWAC, and a top 40 class in the FBS according to 247Sports and ESPN rankings. That’s NUTS and he put it all together in less than two months.

Listen to me playas…this is NOT a test. If Deion keeps pulling this off other high profile black coaches/former players will follow suit and go to other HBCU’s and bring in their own high profile players. I’m pulling not only for JSU but for all HBCU’s.

There were tons of kids signing with JSU that were major D-1 recruits and there were several kids that literally transferred in from major programs.

The future is not only bright for Jackson State but for the entire Jackson, Mississippi community. Winning breeds economic prosperity for not only the university but for the community at large.

If JSU is winning folks are coming to town to watch them from all over the country and that means that they’ll need lodging, food and entertainment. The more they win the more lodging, food and entertainment the city will need and the more hair stylists, barbers and clothing stores they’ll need.

That’s just scratching the surface. The more they win the more television revenue, branding and merchandising sales go up. That means that JSU is making more bread. And always remember…the more a program wins, the more student enrollment goes up. That brings more faculty to campus and more buildings that need to be built to accommodate the additional folks working on campus and for the students living on it. So that means more construction, engineering and architecture jobs will be needed. See how this thing works?

It’s all about the interest in the program. EVERYBODY wants to be affiliated with a winner and right now JSU is on the verge of something huge.

The more bread JSU makes the more kids get to attend one of the greatest schools in the country. It’s all about perception and Deion Sanders is shinning the light on what’s possible when you love your people enough to show up and help. Thanks Deion.

HBCU’s have always provided excellent educations for our students and Jackson State’s football program is about to become the flagship athletic program that changes the game for all HBCU’s forever.

Do you believe? I BELIEVE! Thanks Deion for showing up and lending a hand. Stop me when I start lyin’!
