SOUTH BEND, IN — Every year the Notre Dame faithful waits for a team to show up that can give them hope that the program can sit atop of the college football world. It’s been since 1988 that they’ve been able to sit on the throne when duns like Rocket Ismail were sprinting past boyz.

We’ve just completed Week 5 and the No.8 Fightin’ Irish are still undefeated after beating the brakes off of No.7 Stanford in front of Touchdown Jesus!! There is finally hope in South Bend that they can run the table and get into the playoff this year.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Baring injuries or some type of foolishness the Irish should be favored in every other game on their schedule. They’ve got to Va. Tech next week. Then they’re back home against Pitt and Navy before going on the road to Northwestern. That will be a tough one but if they are still undefeated by then the momentum alone could sustain them in that environment. Then they’re back at the crib for Florida State and Syracuse before heading out to USC.

Now don’t get it twisted, they can lose any one of these games because it’s college football. They could easily go to Northwestern and get beat. Syracuse has the moxie to get them even while Touchdown Jesus is watching and never count out a rivalry game like USC. But if they play like they’ve been playing the past two weeks now that they’ve got a threat at quarterback with Ian Book they’ve got a real shot at getting to the playoff.

Now the question is, are they good enough to compete once they get in. We already know that both Alabama and Georgia will get in because neither will incur a loss until they meet in the SEC title game in Atlanta and the media bias alone will put both in if no one else is undefeated. Oklahoma is rolling right now with Kyler Murray doing everything but making the hot dogs in Norman.

Clemson will take an “L” because their quarterback situation is a mess right now. Don’t sleep, Ohio State proved to boyz that they can’t be counted out after going into Happy Valley and pulling the rabbit out of their hat after being down 12 points with 8 minutes left.

Can the Irish play with any of these cats? I doubt it very seriously. They look good but they aren’t’ at that level yet. However, if they can continue to win they’ll get in because they couldn’t be denied. Winning cures a multitude of sins playa. So let’s sit in the cut and watch it because it should be good coming down the stretch. Stop me when I start lyin’!
