NO deal for Dak in Dallas: He played himself, gambled and loss. “Period Point Blank”

Well playas…the franchise tag extension deadline has come and gone and Dak Prescott is still without a long term deal in Dallas. The 26-year old four-year starter will play the 2020 season under the franchise tag for $31.4 million because the two sides couldn’t get into the same car.

Dak was looking for a four-year deal worth more than $35 million and Dallas was looking at thim like he was crazy. Apparently they offered him $33 million to $35 million over four years with $100 million guaranteed but Dak turned it down. It was never formally put in writing.

Had he taken it he would have joined Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger and Jared Goff as the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

Mahomes just signed a huge extension worth $503 million which will pay him an average of $45 million per season starting in 2022. Meanwhile, Wilson’s extension will pay him an average of $35 million per year in Seattle. The Steelers are paying Big Ben an average of $34 million per year.

Who was whispering in Dak’s ear telling him that he was them? They all have won Super Bowl’s period, point blank. I know that Dak thinks that he’s them because he had a good season last year but he’s not them. It is what it is.

Last season, he ranked second in the NFL in passing yards and fourth in touchdown passes. He threw for 4,902 and 30 touchdowns with a completion rate of 65.1 percent. He was rated fourth in total quarterback rating behind the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson, Mahomes and Drew Brees.

Did Dak deserve to get paid? Sure he did, does he deserve the same money as the aforementioned make? If he could have gotten it he would have but he didn’t. For what he’s done in Dallas leading them to the post-season twice in his four years and winning one of the three playoff games they’ve played is well worth what they offered him in my opinion.

At the end of the day, you can’t do very much more with $33 million than you can do with $31 million. I would have taken the deal sprinting. Now he runs the risk of not having such a good year as he had last season or getting injured which changes the game for next offseason’s negotiations.

Sometimes you’ve got to know who you are in the room. Dak Prescott isn’t Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson or Ben Roethlisberger. Like the old timers would always say, “Don’t ever take points off of the board.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Dallas isn’t trying to win no way. Jerry Jones is already winning because he’s selling tickets, merchandise and America’s team. The Cowboys haven’t been worth two dead flies smashed on the field in decades but it’s the richest franchise in the NFL.

He doesn’t care about Dak potentially walking away when next year. He’ll just get another quarterback and keep the status quo. He’s still making money without postseason wins. Dak played himself by not taking the deal. Stop me when I start lyin’!

  1. I think Dak is good and is in a good spot. He just got franchise tag for 31.5 million he’s probably going to get franchise-tagged for another 30-plus million for next year then he can hit free agency and really see what he’s worth. Now I don’t see a loss when you’re about to make 69 million dollars for the next 2 years and he’s still going to be in his twenties for a long-term deal… Now he has to go out and ball and now a long term deal have to be put on the table by the Cowboys or test the free market with another team so I say Dak is in a good situation he hasn’t lost yet.
