WEST SIDE, INDIANAPOLIS — The Lawrence Central Bears pulled up on the west side to bump heads with the Ben Davis Giants on Thursday night. Everybody and their Uncle LeRoy has been talking about Nijel Pack and Dre’ Davis, the two Mr. Basketball candidates they’ve got. However, BD found out real quick that there was far more to that squad than just those two. When the smoke cleared the Bears had beaten the brakes off of them 83-55.

Nijel Pack led all scorers with 24 points followed by Jasen Graves who dropped a career high 19 points on them on his way to Big Momma’s house. Dre’ Davis unloaded a smooth 15 points rocking some Louisville Cardinal socks just to let boyz know where he was headed after this high school stuff is over. Certified!!! Nijel Pack is headed to Kansas State just in case you were asking playas.

Dre’ Davis jumped out the ride first getting straight to the rack as LC went on a 6-3 run. Ben Davis answered to knot it up at 9-9 on a Kai Steinman three-pointer. It was 13-13 with 3:07 left in 1st quarter. BD’s Jamari London got to the rack to take the Giants’ only lead of the night 15-14. Both teams were aggressive as they finished the first quarter with LC up 19-15. .
Lawrence Central started the 2nd quarter on fiyahhh going on an 8-2 run with Nijel Pack shootin’ that thang!!! They eventually went up 27-17 with 5:37 left in the half. Then the flood gates opened!

Dre’ Davis and Pack were running the floor like the Showtime Lakers. Magic’s Showtime Lakers Playa. Don’t get it twisted. I’m not talking about these new cats in LA. By the time I could bite into my hot dog they were up 35-19 with 2:13 left before the break. Jasen Graves came off of the bench shootin’ the three to put the Bears up 38-21 with a minute left. At the break LC was up 38-23 over BD. Lawrence Central showed great ball movement and they were extremely aggressive on both ends of the floor.  Talk about bringing it? They brought it.

Al Gooden’s squad came out of the break with more of the same of what they brought in the first half. They were pickin’ them up and puttin’ them down as they went up 46-29 with 4:00 left in the third. LC’s young sophomore Tae Davis started to light it up as well. This kid brings so much energy to the floor when he’s on it. He’s got unbelievable upside.

By the end of the third quarter the flood gates were torn off of the hinges as LC extended it’s lead up 56-39.

It was the Nijel Pack Show to start the fourth period. Ole boy was unloading that thang from three point land with his eyes closed. He was unconscious!!!  As he went NUTS Jasen Graves continued to launch threes as well. At the 6:07 mark they were up 64-43.  At that point LC’s whole squad was scoring like they were shooting in the ocean. They couldn’t miss as they sprinted pass a Ben Davis squad that struggled to find their rhythm all night.
