Kawhi signs a 3-year deal instead of a 4-year joint to keep the Clippers honest! “Pure Genius”

On Wednesday the LA Clippers announced that they’d signed Kawhi Leonard but didn’t give the details of the deal. However, my mans and nem got the scoop that ole boy signed a 3-year deal and not the 4-year deal that was initially reported.

When all of the hype broke that he was going to the Clippers and not staying in Toronto or going to the Lakers. It was reported that he’d sign a 4-year deal worth $141 million but Kawhi turned the tables on that and pulled another power move. Instead, he signed a 3-year deal worth $103.1 million with the third year being a player option. Genius!!

That’s means that he can bounce after two years. He’ll make $32.7 million this upcoming season and $34.4 million in ’20-’21. The third year which is a player option could pay him $36 million if he decides to stay.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! LeBron and his camp were the orchestrators of the quick in and out deals around the NBA. The genius in it all is to take the control out of the team’s hands and to put it into the players hands. Kawhi can literally play two seasons with the Clippers and dip if they don’t keep him happy with the right front office moves etc.

LeBron did that with Cleveland and now it’s taken off all over the league. Don’t obligate yourself to a situation long term if you don’t have to. The bread isn’t going anywhere. In the past players would sign these long drawn out contracts and if the team doesn’t make the right moves they’re stuck. Now a boy can come in, access the situation and have the option to leave if the team doesn’t satisfy him. Pure genius!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
