On Monday, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, the mother of NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns died from complications of Coronavirus. She was 58 years old.

In a statement the family spokesman had this to say, “Jackie was many things to many people — a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The matriarch of the Towns family, she was an incredible source of strength; fiery, caring, and extremely loving person, who touched everyone she met. Her passion was palpable and her energy will never be replaced.”

The NBA community is devastated to hear of the loss of such a vibrant woman. She was Karl-Anthony Towns No.1 fan. When Towns was first drafted into the NBA she would travel to every game home and away with the team to see he baby play. That’s what I call supporting your child to the fullest.

In a statement the Minnesota Timberwolves said, “Jackie provided constant and positive energy for him (Karl) and was beloved by our entire organization and staff at Target Center as she supported her son and the Timberwolves.”

The NBA community has reached out with love to the Towns family:

RIP Momma Towns…
