Christian McCaffrey gets paid, bad investment but makes up for getting robbed of the Heisman “Come Up Money”

Everybody’s shut down but the NFL. As the country slows down due to the Coronavirus pandemic the NFL just keeps doing business as usual. On Monday the Carolina Panthers signed running back Christian McCaffrey to a four-year extension, averaging $16 million per year, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. That’s NUTS!!!

He’s now making more bread than Ezekiel Elliott who’s making $15 million per year and Le’Veon Bell who’s getting $14.1 million per.

The deal includes a fifth-year option, including the two years left on his rookie deal. So in the end the deal is worth $75 million over six years. Ole boy won’t turn 24 until June 7. So by the time he turns 30 he will have made $75 million playing this game.

That’s NUTS and crazy at the same time. Why? Because it’s great that he got his bread but crazy that they (Carolina) actually paid him that type of money to play running back in the NFL in 2020.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Like I’ve said with Zeke and Le’Veon before him. The running back position is not worth that type of bread. Everybody and their baby’s momma is running spread offenses and the running back isn’t worth paying that type of bread. Not today!!! Every time we’ve seen a team pay through the nose for one they don’t get the return on investment.

Twenty-five or thirty years ago it would have made sense. The Cowboys paying Emmitt Smith made all of the sense in the world when he held out and they were 0-2. He came back and led them to the Super Bowl right?

Now you can pay third round or even a sixth round pick $650K and win the same amount of games with same year ending results. They just paid McCaffrey a fortune and weren’t they sitting on the couch with me last year during the playoffs?

They’re going to pay $75 million for a cat to tote the rock over the next 6-years and they won’t make the playoffs twice during that time period. Sit in the cut and wait for it.

I guess I am happy for ole Christian getting paid because he definitely got robbed of the 2015 Heisman Trophy while in college. Sure , Derrick Henry won it that year with DeShawn Watson coming in second with McCaffrey rounding out at third. However, he had better numbers than any one in the room that year.

The dun broke Barry Sanders single-season all-purpose yardage record that year. Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The fact that he was a white boy playing running back, folks didn’t take him seriously. That’s real talk. I call it like I see it. There’s no way that he shouldn’t have won the Heisman that year with those numbers. He did it all at Stanford; ran the rock, returned kickoffs and punts blowing away defenders and breaking Sanders’ record. No way!!!

So I guess this makes up for all the additional bread he could have made after winning the Heisman and the money he’s missing out on from Nissan (Heisman House commercials). I’m not made at him at all even though the Panthers won’t get a return on the investment. Stop me when I start lyin’!
