NEW ORLEANS, LA — After all of the hype of winning the Heisman Trophy and leading the LSU Tigers to the National Championship Game. Joe Burrow had to deliver the final “W” to make it complete. Well playas…when the smoke cleared at the Mercedes Benz Superdome on Monday night Burrow and his teammates were holding the trophy after beating the brakes, doors, transmission and back seats off of No.3 Clemson 42-25.

Burrow finished the record night for the LSU Tigers with 463 yards passing, 5 touchdown passes and one rushing TD. That’s NUTS!!! Ole boy put the icing on the cake and delivered LSU it’s fourth national title.

After the game Burrow had this to say, “This is what I wanted to do from the time I was 5 years old, was hoist this trophy, and bringing it back to Louisiana.” The Heisman Trophy winner then caught himself and said, “I guess we’re in Louisiana, but staying in Louisiana, we weren’t going to let someone come in here and steal this from us in our home state.”

I told folks during my preview as I picked LSU to win the game that there was no way they would lose at home. They were literally playing 81 miles from Baton Rouge. That was essentially a home game for the Tigers. Lose in New Orleans for all of the marbles? No way!!!

Coach Ed Orgeron and his staff was able to win a national championship without losing a game. It was the first undefeated season with a national title for LSU since 1958. Don’t get it twisted, it hasn’t been that long since they hoisted the trophy however, Their last title was in 2007 but they weren’t undefeated.

Clemson pulled up on a boy with all type of attitude and confidence to start the game. They drew blood first going up 7-0. However, LSU responded like some real G’s. This thing went back and fourth for most of the first half.

However, once LSU settled down and figured out what Brent Ventables, Clemson’s defensive coordinator, was trying to bring. They were off to the races.

After being down 17-7 the Tigers from LSU brought the noise. At the break they were up 28-17 and never looked back. Burrow got into a zone and it was Chris Brown “On and Poppin'” from that point on.

The LSU Tigers were battle tested and it showed on Monday night! Stop me when I start lyin’!
