INDIANAPOLIS — Now that the NFL Draft is over I can at least tell you who the Indianapolis Colts drafted. I’m always blown away at the amount of analysis that goes on by the talking heads before during and after the draft. Like I always say ‘We won’t know a thing about the draft until we’re three or four years removed from it.
Duns can tell you all day what some kid is going to be or what team totally sucked in the draft but until a boy becomes whatever he’s going to become nobody knows. Tom Brady was a sixth round pick out of Michigan that made absolutely no noise in college that has now become the greatest quarterback to ever lace them up. Who saw that foolishness coming?
The Colts had five total picks in this year’s draft as they looked to fill voids and needs. Four of their five draft picks were on the defensive side of the ball. They definitely needed that. With the 34th overall pick in the second round they selected cornerback Rock Ya-Sin out of Temple to join a secondary that needs crazy depth.
Also in the second round they swooped up a linebacker and a wide receiver. With the 49th overall pick they grabbed Ben Banogu out of TCU at linebacker. Then they picked Paris Campbell at wide receiver out of Ohio State with the 59th overall pick.
In the third round they selected Bobby Okereke out of Stanford at linebacker with the 89th overall pick. Lastly, they drafted Khari Willis in the fourth round with the 109th overall pick. He’s a safety out of Michigan State.
So I know that everybody’s sitting around wanting to know what I thought of how well the Colts did in 2019 draft? Well playas, ask me in three years and I’ll tell you. NOBODY knows what these cats are going to do until they do it. So I could tell you that they did great but I’d be lying to you because all they did was draft who they thought would be able to help their team. Outside of that it’s a crap shoot.
