Even with a loss in Athens Notre Dame gets more respect than an undefeated Alabama! “Risk Management”

ATHENS — In Week 4 of the college football season both No.3 Georgia and No.7 Notre Dame put their seasons and  hopes of making the playoffs on the line by playing each other. Well…more so Notre Dame than Georgia but you get my drift.

A single loss for the Fightin’ Irish means sudden death of any hope of playing for a national championship the way things are set up. Especially since they aren’t in a conference. They played a helluva game “Between the Hedges”  on Saturday night but came up short 23-17 to a great Georgia team.

However, even though their season is over as it relates to competing for a title I’ve got more respect for them than the Alabama Crimson Tide because they at least took a chance and played a real opponent on the road when they didn’t have to.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! All of the championship contending programs will play cupcakes to start the season every year. It’s the American way. However, most of the programs will at least schedule one legitimate program in a home-road scenario. Georgia finally left the south after 50 years and went north to play somebody and a couple of year ago it was Notre Dame when Jake Fromm was a freshman. So on Saturday night the Fightin’ Irish had to return the favor.

We just saw Oklahoma go out to UCLA last week and we’ve seen them go to Ohio State etc. We’ve seen the Buckeyes go to Texas and vice versa. Everybody does it but Alabama. They play ALL of their non-conference games at the crib against the little sisters of the poor and they open the season on a neutral site every year. There’s NEVER a true home and away scenario on their non-conference schedule and Bama fans will defend that foolishness by saying that they don’t have to because they’re Bama.

I’d say that they’re Bama because they don’t play anybody until LSU in Week 9 of every season. I would GUARANTEE that if they scheduled a real home and away scenario with some real programs they wouldn’t be undefeated every year coming into Week 9. Then after they play LSU they always take a smoke break in Week 10 and play a cup cake while the rest of the country’s top programs are deep into conference play trying to stay alive in the hunt. Well everybody but the teams in the SEC. They all take a smoke break Week 10. If you don’t believe me look it up.

So regardless of what happens the rest of the way this season Notre Dame gets my respect. Georgia didn’t risk as much because they’re in a conference that has a championship game at the end. They would more than likely play for the SEC championship even if they’d loss to Notre Dame. A win in the conference title game gets them into the playoff. So they would have had some life left with a loss. Notre Dame is now dead in the water for going to Athens and losing. Much respect to them for having the guts to play the darn game and that’s what makes college football great. BOO to Alabama for hiding from boyz all season. I hope that they run up on Clemson or more importantly Oklahoma with Jalen Hurts and they get blown out again in the national title game this year.  Stop me when I start lyin’!
