INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — On Sunday the Colts announced the abrupt retirement of the team’s long time radio announcer Bob Lamey on Sunday. For the past several days boyz have been in damage control trying to convince folks that he wasn’t forced to retire because of some behind the scenes foolishness.

However, WTHR.com dropped the dime in a report that said that a radio employee told the news outlet that after ole boy’s radio interview last week he began tellin’ a story off-air from his days as a broadcaster at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and he used the N-word. That employee in turn when to Emmis Communications and reported it. Here’s the employee’s recount of what happened.

“He had asked me if the mics were off and I said, ‘Yeah, I turned everything off. You’re fine.'” the employee said to Bob. He goes on to say, “Bob Lamey’s describing this person saying he was asked in an interview, ‘Do you think anyone’s holding back their speed at IMS during quals? Do you think anyone’s holding back?’ And that person had replied ‘There aren’t any ‘blank’ in this race.” Blank meaning the N-word

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Thank God for the radio employee not being complicit to this foolishness. Now most people will say that Lamey wasn’t using the N-word he was just telling a story of someone else using it. No different than boyz trying to explain how John Schnatter was  just telling folks that Colonel Sanders used to say it.

Here’s the problem playa. The fact they he was comfortable even telling the story and saying the word out loud means that he wanted the audience. It also says that he thought he could get away with saying it without being held responsible for being reckless. Why? Because most people will allow that type of foolishness to go on without standing up to it.

Again, thank God that there was at least one person in the studio that saw through his ignorance and reported it. We need more people that are brave enough to stand up to racism because without them, guys like Bob Lamey would continue to be comfortable being ignorant even on the job. Why was he even repeating that story? Because he thought that it was funny.

The fact that ole boy asked if the mics were off tells you that he was comfortable enough to say what he’s probably been saying off of the air for the past 32 years he’s been with the Colts. And on some real talk, the only reason he was forced out was because WTHR put it on blast. You can’t tell me that he’s been around for darn near 32 seasons and nobody’s heard him say anything ignorant like that. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
