Cam Newton cut himself by not getting vaccinated. It ain’t personal it’s just business!

While the sports world was shocked that Cam Newton was released by the New England Patriots on Tuesday, I wasn’t. The NFL announced in July in a memo to all 32 teams that said “if a game cannot be rescheduled during the season due to a COVID-19 outbreak among unvaccinated players, the team with the outbreak will be credited with a loss in a forfeit.”

Cam Newton was the quarterback of the team and had refused to be vaccinated. If the leader of the team was always going to be at risk of not playing due to potential outbreaks of COVID. They would be on pins and needles every week.

He’d already missed five practices due to COVID protocols and he isn’t the same Cam Newton he was when he was the MVP years ago.

Mac Jones showed out during the preseason leading the quarterback group in production going 36-of-52 for 389 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions, playing 107 snaps. While Cam Newton finished the preseason 14-of-21 for 162 yards, with one touchdown and one interception and playing only 39 snaps.

Combine that with the fact that Cam was refusing to get vaccinated. Bill Belichick is paid to win games and he can’t afford to show up on Sunday morning and have his quarterback in COVID protocols or quarantined for 14 days because he’s refusing to be vaccinated.

The NFL is no different than most jobs right now. Ever since the FDA has given full approval of the Pfizer vaccine. Many companies are starting to make it mandatory for further employment. If you don’t get vaccinated you’ll be terminated unless you’ve got a legitimate reason not to be. Otherwise, they’re about to start walking folks out of the front door.

Insurance companies are starting to charge those that refuse to be vaccinated a $200 per month surcharge because it’s costing them on average $100K for a 5 day stay at the hospital due to COVID.

So if folks don’t want to help the world get rid of Coronavirus they won’t be working too many places going forward. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are trying to be productive every week like most organizations. If the leader isn’t on board then they’ve got to do what’s best for them. Cam Newton cut himself. Throwing away whatever money was on the table for him to get. It ain’t personal. It’s just business. Stop me when I start lyin’!
