Bears Finally choose a legitimate quarterback with their 1st pick! History said they would screw it up. Justin Fields Welcome to the Chi”

The Chicago Bears FINALLY drafted a first round quarterback that gives the faithful something to smile about. On Thursday with the 11th pick in the draft they stepped up and picked Ohio State’s Justin Fields. Everybody affiliated with the 312, 708 and 219 zip codes breathed a sigh of relief because history said that they would mess it up.

If you’ve payed any attention to the Bears over the past 50 years you’ve seen them screw it up more than they’ve gotten it right. They’ve NEVER had a legitimate quarterback in my 54 years on this earth. Maybe one…

Now I don’t know if Justin Fields will turn out to be a great pro quarterback or not at this point but he was at least a game changer in college. That’s all you can go on right now.

I moved to Gary, Indiana in 1971 as a 4 year old from Forth Worth, Texas. We were football crazy coming from Texas so we immediately started watching the Bears and our dad even took us to the very cold Soldiers Field to watch them play.

I’m talking about sitting through terrible quarterback after terrible quarterback. Oh my God!!!! There were duns like Bobby Douglass, Gary Huff, Bob Avellini and Mike Phipps. We finally got “some” excitement out of Vince Evans. Then Jim McMahon managed to just not screw things up when they had probably the best defense ever assembled. He was a game manager at best.

I could name another 20 cats that made everybody’s head hurt up to present day. So for the Bears to draft Justin Fields at least gives their fans something to look forward to. Now boyz have got to just sit in the cut and wait.

That draft pick may have saved the entire front office their jobs even if Fields turns out to just be average. The potential in the pick is what counts. Stop me when I start lyin’!
