The Colts signing Philip Rivers makes GREAT sense! Jacoby Brissett was treated more than fairly.

INDIANAPOLIS — As free agency picked up steam on Tuesday the Indianapolis Colts didn’t waste any time finding a new quarterback. After Jacoby Brissett fell apart down the stretch of the 2019 season it became necessary for them to find a replacement. Third year general manager Chris Ballard signed former Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers to take over in Indy.

They signed him to a 1-year $25 million deal to replace Brissett ASAP. Don’t feel sorry for Jacoby because he got his money after Andrew Luck’s retirement.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Brissett was a back up quarterback that got thrown into the fire when Luck was injured and then when he suddenly retired. Ole boy did a great job in the process.

However, he wasn’t a franchise quarterback. The Colts did right by him because they paid him like a starting quarterback in the NFL last year when they signed him to a two-year deal worth $20 million. That was more than fair. He’s still getting money right now.

He was essentially a back up that got starter’s money because he was technically a starter by process of elimination. He went 5-2 to start the season last year but a knee injury and his inability to find receivers with his arm down the stretch was a major problem.

The Colts lost 7 of their final 9 games and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. They had no other choice but to run out and get a quarterback. Brissett was a back up not a franchise player playa! He’s been well taken care of.

Philip Rivers is legit and is one of the best quarterbacks in the game. The only knock on him is that he’s never won a Super Bowl. I’ll take that though. If he can get loose like he did in San Diego/LA then he’s worth the price of admission. Everybody isn’t winning a Super Bowl but if he can win games and get the Colts to the playoffs. I believe folks around Indiana will be cool with that. Stop me when I start lyin’!
