ESPN was dead wrong for telling Tee Higgins mom’s story on draft night. Only the player gets to do that. “Foul Balls”

Now that the NFL Draft is over. We can analyze the foolishness that went on from a media standpoint. ESPN was so desperate to create stories around these players that they dug into one kid’s personal life a little too much.

Clemson WR Tee Higgins was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals with the first pick of the second round. He was an outstanding player in college and his ability to play the game was enough to talk about. However, ESPN thought that it was necessary to tell the world that his mother used to be a drug addict while showing his profile. Wheredeydodatat?

When they put him up on the screen they told the world his hometown was Oak Ridge, TN., he was a finalist for the 2016 Tennessee Mr. Basketball Award. They also shared that he had scholarship offers from Louisville, Auburn and Tennessee. His sister, Keke, played basketball for Middle Tennessee State and then they dropped the unnecessary bombshell. His mother, Camillia, fought drug addiction for 16 years. Why was that relevant? That’s his mother’s business.

They always want to create some drama around the kids coming from bad situations and now getting to the NFL. It sells. That’s that kid’s mother bruh. Do you know how many people have had family members addicted to drugs during the course of their lives? Do you know how many kids from the hood have experienced the same thing?

I think that it was foul for them to put his mother on blast like that during the biggest moment of this kid’s life. Sure, it’s part of his story but allow him to tell it. I don’t think anybody gets to tell that but him. Even if ESPN knew about it and he told them about it. They don’t get to repeat it. Only Tee Higgins gets to tell it.

There is enough of a story to tell about this kid’s ability to get it done than to tell his momma’s story on draft night. Stop me when I start lyin’!
