CHARLOTTE — There is no denying the fact that Zion Williamson is the most dynamic college basketball player we’ve see in a long time. He’s instant television ratings that will sell tickets and most importantly, sneakers. After sitting out 5 games and darn near six (missed all bout 36 seconds on the UNC game) after his shoe blew out causing him to injure his knee. Ole boy is back wrecking shop in the ACC Tournament.
Zion came back even after everybody and their baby’s momma said that it makes no sense to risk playing at this point. However, he’s a kid that loves the game of basketball so he’s jumped into the deep end of the pool and he’s backstroking with relative ease. On Thursday he destroyed Syracuse by putting up video game-type numbers finishing with 29 points and 14 rebounds in an 84-72 win. He went 13-13 from the field. That’s NUTS!!!!
Then he turned around on Friday and put that thang on North Carolina in a 74-73 win. He posted 31 points and 11 rebounds.
So in two games in two days after missing essentially six he put up 60 points and grabbed 25 rebounds leading his team to back-to-back wins. Yeah, I know that I’ve said that if he were my son I would have advised him not to play but since he’s not listening to that type of advice I’ll enjoy the show.
What he does on the floor with his size and athleticism is mind blowing. Roy Williams even had this to say after the game on Friday. “It’s such a blend of strength and power and quickness that we couldn’t stop him getting the ball inside and going to the basket.”
All you can do at this point is enjoy what he’s putting down. Like the old timers used to say, “Dig what he’s gettin’ at or smelling what he’s cooking.” Yeah playa, I’m smelling it alright and will be watching him put up stupid numbers against Florida State on Saturday too. Stop me when I start lyin’!
