You can’t be OUTRAGED by Jussie Smollett going free and say nothing about police going free in the killings of unarmed black men. “Injustice is Injustice”

I sat in the cut all last week watching the outrage all over the county about Jussie Smollett’s 16 felony charges being dropped in Chicago. People are beside themselves with anger that this man could get away with lying to the police about something so serious.

I agree that it’s a shame that this could happen because it makes it that much more difficult for people that have been attacked because of their race, sexual orientation or region to be taken seriously. I completely get all of that.

We even saw the superintendent of police for Chicago, Eddie Johnson, on every news channel in the country telling boyz how “pissed” he was about ole boy getting off without charges. We even saw the Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emmanuel, screaming to the top of his lungs about the injustice of Smollett’s charges being dropped. Again, I get it.

However, where was the same outrage from these people when Laquan McDonald was shot 16 times in the back by a Chicago policeman and when his fellow officers tried to help him cover it up? Sure, Jason Van Dyke was eventually convicted and sentenced to 6 years in prison but it was 5 years later and ONLY AFTER the police dash cam video was released a year after the kid was killed. His fellow officers that were helping to cover this foolishness up walked away without being charged. Where was the outrage?

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The only outrage came when former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to protest the very police brutality, racial and social injustice that had been occurring all over this country when unarmed black men were being killed by police officers and nobody was being held accountable. People were literally outraged that he was protesting this foolishness so much so that he was blackballed from the league.

Young men were being murdered by police officers on video and none of them were going to jail or losing jobs. We saw Philando Castile murdered in front of his girlfriend and his daughter while telling the police officer that he was reaching for the very wallet he was told to get. We saw Eric Garner get choked to death by New York police for selling loose cigarettes.  We saw Tamir Rice shot dead by Cleveland police while playing with a toy gun. I could name more but why? We all witnessed it with our own two eyes but where was the outrage?

All I’m saying is that if we’re going to be outraged about injustice. Let’s be outraged about all of it. Let’s be outraged by people being treated less than human regardless of the color of their skin. But you CANNOT be outraged by Jussie Smollett walking away with no charges if you aren’t even more outraged by police officers killing unarmed black men and not being charged with murder. Stop me when I start lyin’!
