Now that we’ve gotten past Michael Jordan literally being on crack (figure of speech) this week talking about Steph Curry not being a Hall of Famer. That was Mike being on some normal Jordan hater foolishness. We can now stop and look into the other piece of nonsense questioning that boyz have been asking all week. “Who’s going to beat Mike’s pick up team of himself, Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen, James Worthy and Hakeem Olajuwon.
I’ve seen multiple articles asking that dumb question like there’s no answer to it or like any combination of these young cats wouldn’t run them off of the floor with absolutely no problem.
Don’t get it twisted playa, I’m just as old as Mike and all of those cats on his pick up team. Most of those cats are just 3 or 4 years older than I am. So I saw them all play in college (except Scottie because they weren’t on TV) and their entire careers as professionals. So I’m not one of these young cats that didn’t see them play. However, I’m just not one of these crazy old heads that think that my generation of hoopers was better because it was my generation.
These young bulls now are bigger, stronger and faster than they’ve ever been and they’re far more athletic than they’ve EVER been. Not only that, these young duns aren’t limited by position or skill set like they once were. They can play all over the floor at any time.
Therefore, for kicks and giggles I’ll throw a team together with Steph Curry, LeBron, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis for starters and they would run those old heads off of the court with the quickness. Why? Because they can do EVERYTHNG on the floor and they aren’t limited by position.
While Mike is playa hatin’ Steph, that dun is shooting the ball from the Delaney Projects all night long. Sure, Magic is taller at 6’9″ but he can’t keep up with him because his handles are NUTS and he has no limitations on his range. He’s puling up from anywhere on the floor all night.
Magic was incredible because he was literally 30 years before his time. He was the only point guard in the league that was 6’9.” As a matter of fact, he was the only cat walking and chewing gum in 1979 to 1991 that was that tall handling the rock. Cats his size were rebounding the ball and handing it to somebody that could at least dribble it.
Now EVERYBODY in the league handles the rock. Stop it. LeBron’s more athletic, bigger, stronger and faster than Mike. He’s got him by 2 inches and nearly 60 pounds. I’m done. There was a time when Mike, Dominique and Clyde were the only three crazy athletic cats in the league. Now everybody is as athletic and some cats are far more athletic than Mike was. Have you been watching the progression of athletes over the past 15 years? Or have you been asleep?
Kawhi and Scottie are essentially the same size 6’7″ 225 lbs. but Pipp was a mean defender. However, it’s not even close offensively comparing the two with what Kawhi can do with the rock. It’s hard to lock boyz down when the other boyz are all over the place shooting and handling the ball.
James Worthy isn’t holding a stick to what KD is doing at 7’0″ tall bruh. Let’s stop talking right now. There wasn’t a 7 footer alive back 30 years that could handle the rock, run the floor and shoot the three. Stop it!!! Boyz forget real quick that Anthony Davis was a point guard in high school before growing into the monster he is right now at 6’10”. Sure, Hakeem was a beast with probably the best foot work ever for a center but he couldn’t run the floor AND play on the perimeter like these young boyz are doing right now.
The old head will say, “the old guys would kill them in the paint though!!” Yeah but nobody’s playing with only their backs to the basket. This thing is up and down the floor playa and on the perimeter and 3 is always a bigger number that 2. So while these young boyz are shooting from everywhere on the floor the old heads are losing.
Back in his day Hakeem was limited to the paint and bodying boyz. They are playing all over the floor now and switching positions because players can do so much more on the floor. That’s why they call it position-less basketball now.
I could easily switch AD out for Giannis Antetokounmpo “The Greek Freak.” That dun is going coast to coast with the rock. C’mon bruh! Don’t act like you didn’t see what I saw. I’ve been watching the NBA since at least 1974 when I was 7 years old but didn’t fully understand what I was watching until I was in junior high in 1979 when Magic and Bird took over the league.
These young boyz now would run circles around those old heads because they’re more athletic, bigger, stronger and faster than they’ve EVER been. And PLEASE don’t hit me with the “these young boyz aren’t as skilled as they once were” foolishness. If you’re saying that you’re smoking the same trees Mike was smoking talking about Steph wasn’t a Hall of Famer.
You’ve got to be more skilled to shoot and handle the rock the way these cats are getting down now. Have you seen Kyrie Irving play basketball bruh? Have you seen James Harden or Russell Westbrook play? Have you seen what Joel Embiid can do at 7’0″? Really bruh? Did you see Dirk play or were you sleep for darn near 20 years?
It’s not even close what these cats bring to the table now as far as skill and athleticism. Stop with this foolishness!!! And if another dun tells me that these cats today are soft. I’m taking your ghetto pass. If the rules no longer say that you can body slam or straight cold cock a boy in the face as he’s going up for a shot doesn’t mean that the players are soft. It means that the rules say that you can’t do it. That means that it’s illegal to start an all out fight in the middle of a basketball game. That doesn’t make the players soft. It makes them followers of the rules.
If in football, the rules state that you can no longer target a boy with your helmet because science and clinical study has shown that it causes brain damage. It doesn’t mean that the players are all of a sudden soft. It means that the rules have changed. You sound like a complete fool saying otherwise. So miss me with the “I’m old so nobody outside of my era is good” talk. You sound like you’re butt naked foamin’ at the mouth crazy thinking that.
Everything now is better including the cars you drive, to the television you’re watching. You would sound stupid saying that your 19” black and white was better than your 85″ 4K flat screen hanging on your wall right now. Don’t tell me that the Buick station wagon with wood paneling was better than the 8 passenger SUV with television screens hanging from the ceiling with a built-in navigation system that you’re driving today. Just like you can’t look me in my eye with a straight face and tell me that all players 30 years ago were better than all of these cats playing today. Stop me when I start lyin’!
