Why everyone but Coach K, Izzo and Boeheim are on the table for the North Carolina job! “NORTH CAROLINA?”

Roy Williams announces his retirement after 33 years in the game. (Winston-Salem Journal/Andrew Dye)

One of the OG’s of the college basketball coaching profession has decided to hang it up. North Carolina’s Roy Williams announced his retirement on Thursday leaving one of the BEST jobs in American sports open.

Williams is walking away after 33 years at two blue blood programs with 900 wins and three national championships under his belt. He spent 18 seasons at UNC compiling a record of 485-163 while leading the Tar Heels to national titles in 2005, 2009 and 2017. Before making his way to Chapel Hill he spent 15 seasons at Kansas, taking them to four Final Four appearances.

Now the question is who’s going to replace a legend at a legendary program? Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! North Carolina is a REAL program that boyz won’t be turning down. It’s one of the best programs in the game unlike that of Indiana where boyz weren’t trying to break the door in to get to.

Everybody coaching with the exception of Coach K, Tom Izzo and Jim Boeheim are literally on the table for that job. They are all legends and are synonymous to their respective programs so they aren’t raising their hands. Everybody else is wide open to leave and take that job. EVERYBODY!!!

It’s North Carolina for crying out loud!!! Even the duns coaching in this year’s Final Four including Mark Few at Gonzaga is open game. Sure, he’s winning at Gonzaga but it’s not North Carolina playa!

Gonzaga doesn’t have the bread that UNC has. As successful as Gonzaga has been during his tenure he’s only making a million dollars a year. UNC can back the truck up and drop $5 or $6 million in his driveway without blinking. And he’ll be on national television most of the time. We don’t see Gonzaga on television until the NCAA Tournament jumps off.

I’m not saying that Few will leave the Pacific Northwest but he’d be crazy not to sit down with them and hear them out. North Carolina is NORTH CAROLINA!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
