What qualified Kliff Kingsbury to coach in Arizona disqualified Steve Wilks. “Opportunity”

My parents taught me from the time I could walk that in order to compete in this country, as a person of color, you’ve got to be twice as good as your white counterparts to be considered half as good and that still may not be good enough. Therefore, you’ve got to be 4 times better.

Well playas…if you’re coaching in the NFL it darn sure is the truth. Over the past week five of the eight NFL coaches fired were black including Arizona’s first year head coach Steve Wilks. They fired the dun after only one year bruh!!!

As of the time I was writing this joint six of the eight teams had already fired their new head coaches and none of them were black. So that leaves 30 of the 32 teams with white coaches. Now don’t get it twisted, I’m not saying that black coaches should be hired because they’re black. I’m saying that black coaches should be given the same opportunities as their white counterparts to become successful.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Let’s use Steve Wilks as our example. He was only in Arizona for one stinking year and it was bad as they finished 3-13. You read that right, they fired him after one year!!! How many of his white counterparts have been coaching for years and losing and never lost their jobs? Jeff Fisher was a complete dumpster fire for 20 years and he kept picking up a pay check. He had a .512 winning percentage and never got a pink slip. He had the worst winning percentage of any coach in the history of the game that coached at least 20 years.

Don’t think for one minute that a brother would have been able to keep getting checks doing that. I don’t think anyone, black or white, should be able to keep a job if they aren’t doing it well. However, I’m tired of being sick and tired of black coaches always being held to a higher stand. But what was I thinking? My parents told me from day one that you’ve got to be twice as good to be considered half as good and that includes in the profession of coaching as well.

Why is it that our black coaches have to be great in order to even get an interview let alone the job but their white counterparts just have to be coaches? Kliff Kingsbury was fired from Texas Tech with a losing record and was just hired as the replacement for Steve Wilks in Arizona without an ounce of NFL coaching experience. C’mon bruh! At least make it look like you’re trying to fool people.

I’m not saying that every black coach should be hired. I’m just saying that every black coach that is qualified should be given an opportunity to be hired. You can’t have a league where 75 percent of it’s players are black and have only 6 percent of the coaches look like them. That makes no sense.

Don’t be obvious in the discriminatory hiring practices. If Steve Wilks isn’t worthy of being an NFL head coach then Cliff Kingbury darn sire isn’t based off of resumes. I’ve got no problem with you firing Steve Wilks after a one year disaster in Arizona if you would have fired Jeff Fisher after taking it in the face after his first year too. Not only that, I wouldn’t have a problem with black coaches not getting rehired after loosing their jobs if their white counterparts who were fired remained shut out of the system too,

However, that’s not the case and therein lies the problem. All we want is an equal opportunity to succeed or fail however it goes down. Don’t have different criteria for different folks based on the color of their skin. That just sounds too much like right. Kliff Kingsbury got the job because of something that we call opportunity that Steve Wilks was given to complete what he’d started. Stop me when I start lyin’!
