THE FAR EAST SIDE — Sometimes in life things happen to help remind us that we’re all human beings. There are certain incidents that leave us feeling helpless and vulnerable as we look for someone to come along side of us during our time of need. As long as we remain faithful, God will always send the support that we need to get us through.

On Friday night Warren Central hosted Cathedral and welcomed not only the team but most importantly, James Franklin Jr. better known in these basketball streets at Dooman into their building. Franklin suffers from Epilepsy and the Warren Nation decided to make it Epilepsy Night at their place and had the entire student section wear purple in support of this young man.

Not only that, they raised more than $2,300 and wrote a check to Indiana Epilepsy in support of awareness and education. This is what it’s all about. Our goal at every level is to raise adults and not children. By teaching our kids how to come along side of others is to teach them to understand the differences that make the world great.

Shout out to Warren Central for using this moment in time to make Indianapolis a better place. Sports usually is the ultimate equalizer and 99.9999 percent of the time it does it’s job. Sports teaches us how to overcome obstacles. It’s teaches us how to be resilient. It also teaches us that life isn’t fair but most importantly it teaches us that we can become better if we continue to work hard, keep our faith and never give up.

James Franklin Jr. went to school this week, didn’t give up, kept the faith and on Friday was given a standing ovation on the road! Ain’t God good? Just keep believing that he makes no mistakes and that there’s a purpose in all of this. God has the last say on what’s what and who what. Our job is to keep loving each over and keep doing his will. Stop me when I start lyin’!
