INDIANAPOLIS — It was Day 2 of the Manual Extravaganza with all the big boyz in town to show off their skills!! No.1 Warren Central came over from the FAR EAST SIDE town to bump heads with some duns from East St. Louis. Warren was riding a 36 game winning streak into the joint with the confidence of a lion and by the time the smoke cleared they were still standing with a 62-52 win over the East St. Louis Flyers.

However, it wasn’t as easy as their first four games this season. They actually had to break a sweat and Coach Criss Beyers almost literally broke one when he and East St. Louis’ head coach, Mark Chambers, had some heated words. During that exchange in the fourth quarter the benches cleared and boyz were about to come out of the stands until the public address announcer started warning of possible ejections etc.

I guess the cats from East St. Louis thought they were playing some cats from the suburbs or something. I’m just saying. Once the Flyers bench cleared boyz were ready to ride for Coach Beyers and rightfully so. I’m just glad that cooler heads prevailed with the assistance of Indianapolis’ finest making sure boyz knew the rules.

Warren came out of the gate on a 14-4 run with Isiah Moore shootin’ that thang. Ole boy was red hot from the word go finishing with a game high 28 points after knocking down 6 three-pointers. At the end of the first quarter Warren Central was up 17-12 over East St Louis.
Warren’s Jesse Bingham was very aggressive as he kept going to the rack drawing fouls. He finished with 10 points and most of them were from the charity stripe.
East St. Louis continued to battle staying in the game getting big turn overs and connecting on transition buckets to make it 33-25 by the break.

The Flyers came out of the break and went on a 13-8 run to get within 3 with 2:30 left in the third down 41-38. This was unchartered territory this season for the Warriors but keep in mind that they were on a 36 games winning streak so they’ve seen it all. These kids don’t fold at all. So a little pressure only makes them better.
Point guard Jashawn Anderson was running the Flyers offense and was getting to the rack at will. He was the spark that kept them fighting. At the end of the third quarter Warren was up 44-40. That’s when the soup got stirred. With 7:02 left both coaches got into a heated exchange and each picked up technical fouls after East St. Louis’ coach came sideways at Beyers.
Ole boy, Chambers, was coming unhinged all day and everybody knew that at some point he was going to pick up a technical foul. Sure enough, the lid came off of the pot and the benches cleared with the score 44-42 with Warren up. Once they cleared the floor and resumed the game the intensity was nuts!
By the time a boy blinked it was 48-48 with 4:50 to play. Jakobie picked up his 4th foul as well as Moore. With less than 2 minutes left Warren decided to sit on it to force the foul. Isiah Moore was fouled and hit one of two to go up 56-50 with 1:38 left. Moore went back to the line to make it 58-50.
Warren sat on it again and it was a wrap to draw additional fouls and it was a wrap. Isiah Moore finished with 28 points to lead the Warriors. Jesse Bingham dropped off 10 points as both Jakobie Robinson and Malik Stanley each had 10.
