On Thursday I wrote the Hot Joint entitled “Throwing Stones” directed at the more than 500,000 people around the country signing the Change.org petition to try to remove Michael Vick from being a “Legends Captain” at the 2020 Pro Bowl.
I broke down how the guy has already served 18 months in prison for his crimes of dog fighting and abuse of animals, paid the fines and lost millions of dollars. He’s been rehabilitated and began working with the Humane Society of the United States since 2009 as an animal rights activist. He worked specifically with the organization’s End Dog Fighting campaign when he was released from prison.
He placed an additional 7 years in the NFL and is currently working for FS1 as an analyst.
However, that wasn’t enough for folks. They want the dun to be forever cast away for the mistakes that he’s made. What blows my mind is that many of those same folks are up in arms about Colin Kaepernick kneeling in protest of police brutality, racial and social injustice of black folks in America.
They care more about the lives of dogs than black folks. Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I’ve got a dog and love her dearly. So yes, what Michael Vick and his boyz did to those animals was ridiculous. However, he did darn near two years in prison for that foolishness. So we move on.
However, these police officers are running around here killing black folks on routine traffic stops and nobody’s putting together petitions to have them arrested and prisoned for their crimes.
Not only are black folks being killed by police but they’re being killed on video tape and the most the cop gets is suspended with pay while they act like they’re looking into it. Then after a few weeks the scumbag is back at work and nobody’s up in arms about them killing someone’s loved one.
Amber Guyger walked into Botham Jean’s apartment in Dallas and shot him while he was sitting on his own couch eating ice cream and folks were feeling sorry for her. It was amazing that she was even convicted of a crime. This is the foolishness that we’re still facing in America.
Dogs Lives Matter more than Black Lives and it becomes more and more evident every day. However, those same folks signing the petition to remove Vick from the Pro Bowl that are also haters of Kaepernick, for, in their opinion, disrespecting the flag will argue you to the death that they aren’t racist. Stop me when I start lyin’!
