The IHSAA is makin’ No.1 Warren Central earn every bit of their stripes! “That’s that Foolishness Again”

"Like the CMB fellas! We ALL We GOT!" Photo: TheJayGravesReport

I know that I can’t be the only media-type seein’ this foolishness goin’ on but I’m darn sure the only one that’s willin’ to ask the question. Why on earth is there NOT a semi-state game bein’ played in the BIGGEST city in the freakin’ state? Will somebody please tell me that?

Why are all of the semi-state games bein’ played in little towns across the state? They’re bein’ played in Lafayette, North Huntington, Seymour and Washington. Most importantly, No.1 Warren Central has to travel to Seymour to play New Albany on Saturday.

The same New Albany that has played at that arena for the past TWO weeks. Now some little birdie has been flyin’ around tellin’ folks that no way would they allow New Albany to play in Seymour three weeks in a row because that gives them an advantage. However, when the schedule came out after the regionals where decided. Guess who’s playin’ in Seymour AGAIN on Saturday?

When I said somethin’ about it on social media boyz started tryin’ to justify the foolishness by sayin’ that Seymour holds 1000 more seats than Washington. Therefore, it made sense to play it there. Hummmm….like there aren’t bigger venues in the state capital. Why was Washington even an option in the first place?

Once again, that’s that foolishness I’m talkin’ about. I’ve already been goin’ nuts about the blind draw that the IHSAA uses, which is ridiculous. What’s the point in bein’ ranked No.1 and bein’ 30-0 if you don’t get credit for bein’ the best team in the state once the tournament starts.

Because of the stupid blind draw Warren Central had to play three games in the best sectional in the state just to get out. They didn’t even get a bye in the openin’ round when others with losin’ records did and they finished the regular season UNDEFEATED. Then they had to play the No.3 team and defendin’ state champs in the regional semi-final only to advance and beat the doors, transmission and seats off of Terre Haute that had no business in the regional final. Where else on earth can you go 25-0 and then be blindly seeded in the tournament?

Now they’ve got to drive all the way Seymour to play New Albany that’s called that gym home for the past two weeks. But you want me to shut up about it because every team has to win their games to get to the Ship anyway.

Look here playa, I could give a rip who wins these games. I’m goin’ to write them up either way. My job is to write not play or coach. However, because I grew up in G.I. I can see a hustle gettin’ out of the car with a hoodie on down the street.

My point in all of this is this, The tournament needs to be seeded and teams shouldn’t be drivin’ all over the place to compete in regionals or semi-states. The state should be broken down into quadrants for teams to compete and NO WAY ON EARTH should schools comin’ out of Indianapolis be drivin’ to Seymour to play a darn semi-state game.

New Albany and Warren Central shouldn’t see each other until the State Championship. But that’s that foolishness again. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) G.I.: noun – Gary, Indiana

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”

The caption under the photo isn’t real but its real talk!

  1. Warren Central and Tindley’s girls traveled 3 1/2 hours to Jasper, IN this year for their semi-state games while their opponents traveled maybe an hour tops. I agree there should be seeding. MIC has the best conference in Indiana and most of them see each other 2-3 times throughout the season. Carmel is THE ONLY MIC Team that doesn’t cross paths with other MIC teams until State(assuming either side makes it that far). Carmel used to play North Central during Eric Gordon Era but somehow NC conveniently is with all the other MIC teams in the southern part of the tournament now. I know sites are chosen in advance but wow its still lopsided. When Lawrence North gitls made it to semi-state the host school/gym was Bedford North Lawrence….who did Lawrence North play for semi-state….well it was Bedford North Lawrence. I graduated in ’89 where we still played at Hinkle and there was no class basketball…I miss those days. ☺

  2. why? not semi state played in indy———money money money—–hinkle fieldhouse isnot adamant about hosting hs games like they once did and Bankers life is too big for a semi state———plus when tourney games are played at high schools the rent is gratis and only charges are security, custodians and game personnel.
